First, it was called the Yonkers Spanish Congregation. In 1988 it split into two: Getty Square and Lincoln Park (I belonged to Linclon Park). Then in 1992 more folks were redistributed among the two congos. Plans started to take place to build a new hall in Mt Vernon. It was finally completed around 1997 or 1998, but I was already gone.
People were beside themselves, talking about the growth. It grew alright, but it had nothing to do with new converts. It was about immigration and the average family size of 4 children per married couple. So both congregations were just full of kids, not adults or converts!

TexSham, you went to Garland? I did too for awhile! Mostly I was in White Rock, Dallas where my family still goes. I also went to Jackman, Toledo OHIO; Elmore, Elmore OH; Palatine Cong in Palatine Illinois; Burbank Cong in Burbank Illinois....yeeesh, this is wearing me out. LOL
