On my way in to work this morning (Saturday), at 6:05 am on a commercial business street in Chicago, I saw two sisters and a brother bundled up in Winter clothes and doing "street work." It wasn't that cold, so I guess they started even earlier when they needed their scarf and gloves. There was absolutely nobody else walking and all the businesses were closed. It made me think about how stupid such work is. I know- it's March. It's the all-important 30-hours aux. pioneer month to invite strangers to their Memorial.
But the work is so urgent, the end is so close, that they need 3 people to walk at a stupid hour to reach absolutely nobody. How in the world could any of us have believed that such work was so important? Talk about your cognitive dissonance.
