After being put under a lot of pressure by family and ex-friends to attend the memorial this year (I didn't). I'm thinking of attending next year and drinking the wine and eating the bread. Because I beleive the whole Memorial to be a rejection of Christ ceremony.
I'm prepared to receive a lot of weird death stare looks.
Has anyone here ever partaken? What was your experience?
One deaf person (never a JW) broke the bread up last night because he is curious but he never ate it. FYI.

For that, you would probaby be escorted out of the Memorial right away.
Maybe I'll wear a spy cam.
JW beliefs are very different from those of normal Christians, and IMO to partake at the Memorial would mean accepting their interpretation of the Bible- that you were one of the 144.000, and that there was going to be a New System for everybody else. Even if I was a Christian I wouldn't go into a KH and do it.

The challenge is that most traditional Christians have no idea HOW different the beliefs are. I mean that VERY sincerely.
To be clear, I've only been to 1 meeting as a visitor and if I hadn't known better, I could easily see a person of my kind leaving a service and still not being clear on the difference in the teachings of the WTS.
I have never been to a Memorial service. I would have gone but was too offended that they'd count me. :( I kinda wish I had gone so that I could have provided honest feedback as to what traditional Christians hear, see and perceive.
I think for a Christian the Memorial would be just too weird... and the best indication that the JWs were a high-control group, rather than a normal inclusive religion.
We might not define it as weird. We'd probably chalk up the whole event to not quite understanding what the symbolism meant and something we'd probably know if we were a part of your faith. Kinda like if you attended a Buddhist Temple and everyone hit the floor. You may not understand what the heck you're doing or why you're doing it, but you'd figure you should follow suit out of a respect for the service.
You all are now educated in the realm of high control groups. This was completely unfamiliar to me until I started researching this cult. Before my research? ...I can't say that that possibility would have been on my radar.
