Congrads getting the position, nothing helps learning advanced topics and upper-division units (or vice-versa!) like being in the center of activity!

I like when good things happen to members here!

    Billy...

Doesn't it feel good to submit an answer that may have been a little off but rewarded for everything you've done right? *giggling*

    Personal story:

After a nearly perfect SAT math score, I started off my college career in Engineering and realized I was more interested in the behaviors of my classmates than the coursework.

One day I read Albert Einstein's quote,

"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing it is stupid."

I ended up switching schools and leaving a better school with a 3.97 GPA. Integrated my technical interest with my people interest and received a BS in IT with an emphasis on Business.

CONGRATULATIONS! It looks like you got off land and found your ocean! I am soooo proud of you. :)

Wow. This is a direct result of:

But I never miss a class, I don't give up

We are all very proud of you. Knowledge is a wonderful thing.

I just graduated from college at 61 years old with a degree in History. If only I hadn't spent over thirty years in "the truth" I would really be able to use the degree.

For anyone else on our forum that is contemplating going for your education that you felt too guilty for while in the borg, GO FOR IT!

    Well done Billy!

JW's often think they can easily succeed "if they chose to follow Satan's world". They have little appreciation for how hard it is, what a degree means. I was told so many times that a degree was just a title and that graduates thought they knew everything.

Turning up to lessons is all most JW's think is required to get a degree. I suspect your regular attendance would have helped to demonstrate your commitment but clearly your aptitude, attitude and hard work counted far more.

Congratulations, Billy! Those who have told you that your professor prefers your real world experience to the book-learning of the young whiz kids have hit the nail right on the head. I was told the same thing when I was an undergraduate studying for my bachelor’s degree. One of my professors told me that I was his favorite student because I was the only one who asked questions which revealed a thinking brain and a real desire to learn.

As for your experience with the really difficult course work, that also is what I expected you would find. The 100- and 200-level courses are designed to weed out those students who either don’t have the ability to do the work or don’t want to put in the effort. Once you get to the junior- and senior-level classes, the real learning begins. I saw that when I studied geography and mathematics, particularly the latter discipline.

I still remember my “Advanced Mathematics” professor saying on the very first day of his class, “Ladies and Gentlemen, the preliminaries are over. Calculus and differential equations are the easy stuff. From now on, you will be studying real mathematics.” He was absolutely right. I learned that true algebra and true arithmetic are more difficult than calculus ever was. You are seeing the same with your courses in physical chemistry and thermodynamics. But all of us are proud of you and wish you every success. I have all the confidence in the world in you, and evidently so does at least one of your professors.

    Billy,

You are an outstanding example for all of us. Your academic success inspite of all the brainwashing from the Watctower shows that one can put back his or her life after exiting the Watchtower. Iam very proud of you. Please, see pm.
