Edmond Dantes - Yes, agreed. This government is just taking her policies to yet another level by targeting the unemployed and disabled even more. It's a disgrace.

These people can spew hate at the drop of a hat, or as soon as their liberal litmus test shows positive for a conservative. Shallow simpletons like everything black and white.
This was a documentary that I was involved with which had its premiere to great reviews this week. Says it all really.

Her death is not exactly the drop of a hat - there have been songs written in anticipation of this event. The Brits (and the Irish) don't have to be liberal to hate Thatcher. And they hate her not for a political label, but for what she did with her power.
As konceptual99 said (and it bears repeating):
she ruined the lives of millions of British people. She viewed the suffering of the working class as collateral damage, a necessary side effect of the smashing of the unions and socialist policy in general. Her policies run deep and are in evidence today - once again to the point where those in need are forced to bear the brunt of the pain of financial policies that favour the haves.
There are many places in the UK that will never view Thatcher as anything other than a disaster for them and their community.
Mrs Thatcher's death gives me no pleasure.
When she was PM I despised what she stood for with a passion. She had contempt for the poor; she made a virtue out of greed.
All these years on I have had time to reflect. As I get older my political views are less black-and-white than they were back then.
I still despise everything she stood for with a passion.
Racist and classist ... a great woman who lived about 75 years too long.
Like her or not, she turned the country around and prevented Britain slipping back into 2nd world status.
Before she came into power there was rubbish in the streets and no power. Britain was a whole lot better when she left than when she took over which I think is the mark of success or not. I don't think you can reall say Tony Blair accomplished anything in the same way.
She was the right person at the right time. Yes, she had her faults and made some wrong decisions (actually, I think the poll tax was a great idea but badly communicated and taken advantage by trouble-makers) but she got things done at a time when things deparately needed changing.
Ronald Reagan in a skirt. We are now reaping what they did sow.
So, beks, bizzy, designs, why don't you give us an idea of how the UK, and indeed the Western world, would be today if Mrs. Thatcher hadn't ruled as Prime Minister.
C'mon guys and gals. You can do better.
