I have had the extreme unfortune to sit and listen to a couple of David Splanes talks at DC's. He is one of the most repulsive and offensive speakers I have ever heard. His words are vitriolic shit.

"True Believing Governing Body Member" is an oxymoron. They belong to the Inner Party. They know it's all BS.

They are control freaks and benefit by being arrogant while their patsies support them in grand style.

The pope is 'way more humble than the GB.

    Mum,

I agree they are control freaks but, I think they are in a state of denial and compartmentalization to such an extent that they are beleivers. Their type of behavior seems to reflect a delusional state with all sorts of denial and a battle of fighting off cognitive dissonance going on.

I do not see how a congregation elder can fully believe the teaching that a) he has been selected and appointed by The Holy Spirit b) he is depicted in Scripture as a "star" in the right hand of Jesus ....and oh, the r & f should be "subordinate to him, - and then still maintain a spirit of humble service of his brothers.

Back in the day I think that most of us, certainly me, quickly saw through the "spirit appointment " doctrine. It was just a device to justify our existence and maintain order.

The admonition by Governing Body member David Splane, stating that they(the GB) "loved this new teaching" about the F&DS give one the impression that this new idea is helping them coupe with cognitive dissonance and is giving them a measure of relief so they "love" it. Thus setting the pace for the rest of the rank and file.

It is impossible for the collective Governing Body to be humble when living in a narcissistic delusion of special favor with a violent deity who is going to destroy the whole world in a fit of rage.
