Oatmeal was served on a rainy day

on a ugly plaid chintzy tray

it's flavor was a tastless gook

you didn't even want to look

Oh for eggs the children cried

    but constantly they were denied

but now she's at a champagne brunch

with shrimp and caviar to munch

I love oatmeal! Almost as much as i love eggs. With cinnamon and brown sugar. Or, with cinnamon, vanilla, honey and peanut butter. Yes, peanut butter. Don't knock it till you try it!

i hate oatmeal and really I don't like any cereal i start most mornings with a protein shake and vitiamins, supplements and coffee. i only eat eggs if I'm in a restaurant for breakfast or a brunch maybe.

Love the story, Coco. Great how you focus on one benign (even bland) element of the relationship (oatmeal) and build the tension around it.

I do enjoy the way in which you keep the reader uncertain as to whose perspective is true or most accurate to the truth.

I suppose each one believes their perspective is true.

Funny, Coco, I was thinking about Lennie just the other day. His love was smothering!!!

How do you suppose that will be interpreted?

Not sure why the font is gigantic- on cell- sorry.

    Well, rip, there's nothing quite like a smother's love . . .

Great stuff! Your writing, and oatmeal, and eggs.

I like my oatmeal lumpy and thick, with a little brown sugar and milk. I like my eggs just about any way possible. My favorite breakfast is eggs scrambled with some cream cheese, bacon, sliced tomatoes and sourdough toast, nearly burnt. Yummmmm. I have that at restaurants now and then, but at home it's oatmeal or toast, seldom cook eggs.

Interesting how your story has us focusing on our own tastes.
