    In my opinion OPEC will put an oil embargo on the US for its support for Israel. For those who remember the oil embargo of the 1970s it will be be WORSE!

    I disagree on two counts. OPEC is too divided and too greedy to do the 1973 Embargo again, PLUS, we have a few more resources available than we did then. The oil companies might try to stick it to us though. This is the reason we need to develop our own oil reserves even if they are in "pristine" environmental areas. We need also develop alternate fuel sources. Our support for Israel's struggle for security against terrorism should not be predicated by the Arab's control of oil.

    Yassir Arafat is a TERRORIST! Proportional to the population of Israel against the US Arafat and the Suicide bombers (many coming from his own party) have been responsible for the deaths of far more innocent civilians than has Usama Bin Ladin on 9-11.

    Russia is in the process of elbowing out the Saudis in the oil business and we are getting buddy-buddy with the russkies... The Saudis have greedied (Look! Just made up a word!!! ) themselves into a very bad position to use strong arm tactics. They had 50 years to utilize their oil wealth to strengthen themselves, but instead, then squandered it on stupid shit. Kind of like a redneck winning the lottery and buying crap like velvet portraits of Elvis.

    Also, when it comes to running the oil industry – the Russians play the game like chess while the Saudis play checkers.

    We cannot compare the 70s to today. The oil market is much more global than thirty years ago. Mexico, China and Russia are all selling on the market. True, we will see a price rise, however it would be very difficult to have all oil producers worldwide coordinate a cutback of oil.

    Seriously, if any American wants to complain about 'Gas' being $1.50 a GALLON you are welcome to swap with us poor sods who pay £0.80p + PER LITRE (I think it works out about £3/4 per gallon which is several times what you pay)

    Your fuel price is artificially low and you waste it with your big X cylinder / X litre engines while we all piddle about on 50cc mopeds

    I waste it with a 400hp 4X4. I have to shut the engine off while refueling as it comsums gas at idle faster than the pump can deliver it.

    You must be one of those people who have a gas tank / filling station burried in your back yard! My Grand Dad had one of those on his land out in the woods.

    Who can say what is “artificially” low? Your gas is high because your government controls the habits of its subjects by taxation. That’s the beauty of America baby!! And that is what makes us different from Europe......and I hope it stays that way.

    (no, I don't drive a big car/truck. I drive a 1967 VW bus that goes from 0-60 in 3.5 hours....)
