I personally have experienced a rather rapid liberation from spiritual bondage to the self-centred, self-congratulatory, self-absorbed and self-righteous "ruling religious clergy class", and from my addiction to numerous aberrant thought patterns.

    mP:

Well you sould qualify your statements, because from the outset it prsetned something quite different. Ignore religion and you dont have that worry, whatever it may be.

The stages of this difficult journey has been explained by others as: "We (as simple followers of Jesus) have been delivered from the authority of Satan, sin, sickness, suffering and death. We are being delivered from the power of Satan, sin, sickness, suffering and death. We will be delivered from the presence of Satan, sin, sickness, suffering and death."

    mP:

Argh more invented bullshit from the Catholic Church who sold absolutions. These sales are what made them rich and sparked the protestant reformation. Thats what the "protest" in protestant means.

If Jesus is so blind he cant condemn slavery and instead tells them to shutup and be obedient, he has no moral authority and should be condemned with all other despots who also dont give a damn about the poor and weak.

RELIGION - Jesus is coming, and our group knows when (Adventism)

The GOSPEL - Disciples follow Jesus now

There is NO Christian Religion today that properly teaches the Gospel.

Including the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society!

It is so bad, that the value of Jesus Christ's sacrifice has been withdrawn.

That is what Daniel Chapter 8 prophesied would happen:

    Daniel 8:11

And all the way to the Prince of the army it put on great airs, and from him the constant [feature] was taken away, and the established place of his sanctuary was thrown down.

There are a Billion Christians on this planet who don't get it!

Why is God such a poor communicator, that nobody can just read and understand his gospels ? Isnt that surely a sign of something written by man ? Is it not an offense to suggest a creator of the universe, cant manage to write a coherant, clear message or gospel ?

RELIGION - Focus on stimulating our 5 senses, so that we do not develop our extra or 6th sense. Smells and bells, impressive garb, visible rulers, cavernous architecture, flying buttresses...

The GOSPEL - Ordinary humans can, do and must hear from God, not through our 5 senses, but via our 6th sense.

Isnt that good ? We ignore Jesus criminal support for slavery, racism, inequality for women. It seems the only person Jesus loves are the Romans, which is why he tells everyone to pay tax and be good slaves.

    How scientific.

No matter what their source, words on a page can not grasp the living truth of anything.

E.g.: If you have read everything ever written about trees, you still remain blind and ignorant to what it is to be a TREE. You have no genuine living knowledge of your subject.

The gospel, is no different. It's two dimensional symbols on a page. Meaningless in themselves.

That said, words can inspire us (e.g. Terry's words have a way of doing that...for some).

If the Christian gospel inspires you to dissolve the walls that seemingly separate you from all mankind and nature, and opens you to unconditional love and appreciation....then fucking-hallelujah.

You have successfully realized what "pagans" have been trying to tell you for centuries!!!

    @James Thomas

My experience is similar. I used to walk by the printed letter as a follower of the Watchtower. It was a very two-dimensional experience. What has made a real difference is a "genuine living knowledge" as you say. I am not sure if this was and is indeed the message of all, most or even many pagans. Then again there is the potentially tricky matter of defining who and what is a pagan (and from whose perspective).
