What is the difference between wearing makeup and and celebrating a birthday?

Most of the women mentioned in the Bible who wore makeup were prostitutes. Jehovah's Witnesses state that it is okay to wear a little makeup because the Bible does not say it is NOT allowed. According to Jehovah's Witnesses, there are two accounts of birthdays being celebrated in the Bible and both had to do with beheadings/murders. Pagans also celebrated birthdays. Because of those two reasons/IMPLICATIONS, celebrating birthdays is out of the question.

Same goes for wearing makeup. Pagan origins, prostitutes wearing makeup, vanity, decorating the face. For what purpose does painting the face serve in God's eyes YET it is ALLOWED?

I have nothing against wearing makeup but when hypocrites use the Bible to make weak implications based on weak biblical verses such as not celebrating birthdays because of negative association (murder), what should be said about wearing makeup?

    1) Makeup=pagan=vanity BUT their teachings based on implications ALLOW the wearing of makeup.

    2) Birthdays=pagan=associated with murder NOT ALLOWED based on once again implications.

Is makeup for SELF? Is it done to make SELF "get" more beauty, "get" more attention-and "get" more looks from others? Is painting the face done for purely SELFISH reasons?

What would be the difference between decorating a pagan tree and decorating the body?

I believe the argument the Jehovah's Witnesses pose on ALLOWING a woman to wear a little bit of makeup as part of proper grooming (even though it is associated with prostitutes & vanity) vs. not celebrating birthdays or certain holidays due to pagan origins or associating them with acts of murder IS redundant/hypocritical.

Three birthday celebrations. Job celebrated his sons' birthday and burned offerings for them, should they sin on their day. He was righteous and celebrated birthdays. No one died.

Wedding rings are pagan as well, but it doesn't stop Witnesses from wearing them. Honeymoons are pagan (The Honey Month) and last I checked, Witness approved.

Leviticus forbids shaving and men cutting their hair on the sides, but these are requirements by the Watchtower to be viewed as spiritually clean. I don't recall too many ties or suits made from threads from a single type of fabric.

You know, it's easier just to say the Watchtower is stupid and they don't know What The Bible Really Teaches (ha! See what I did there?)

    I Love Jeff:

One of Job's daughters has a name that means "horn of eye-paint" so, "makeup" at least the primitive kind, was in use.

Also, I suspect back then in the Old Testament the women were all covered up and at least partially veiled so possibly all you saw were their eyes. In my opinion, there is really no comparison with painted ladies of modern time.

Here is a similar failure in WT logic:

Parable of the sheep and goats:

The sheep can't be Christ's "brothers," because in the parable they minister to Christ's "brothers."

Yet the Christians written to in the book of Hebrews ARE Christ's brothers, even though Heb 6:10 (NWT) says,

"For God is not unrighteous so as to forget YOUR work and the love YOU showed for his name, in that YOU have ministered to the holy ones and continue ministering."

I showed this to another brother while in the lobby during a funeral talk. His response was, 'Yea, the Society sometimes has inconsistant logic.'

Once again I have nothing against wearing makeup but when hypocrites make weak implications based on biblical verses having very little connection whatsoever with a certain topic such as not celebrating birthdays because of negative association (murder), what should be said about wearing makeup which also carries a negative association?

Wasn't Jesus birthdate celebrated by angels? Also why did men bring him presents?

The religion is not honest. They pick and choose which doctrines to abide by, and go ballistic on those doctrines while not saying a peep about certain others. At least I am willing to be upfront and throw the whole LIE-ble out. I don't claim to abide by the LIE-ble; hence I am not bound to abide by it.

As for why the make-up is acceptable but birthdays are not, it is about field circus. A little make-up (and in some cases, a lot) can help make one more appealing to householders in field circus. It does cost money, but it can enhance one's performance in field circus if one looks more "presentable". (Yet, to prevent fornication, they insist on frumpy dresses and ugly grey suits.)

Birthdays, on the other hand, take time away from field circus. You cannot be out in field circus while you are celebrating your birthday, even if it's not known in the world that witlesses are against it. And, if you are looking forward to your birthday party, you are not going to be totally into your field circus. If you get toys, you are that much less likely to want to stay out in field circus all the time (they have this problem with Christmas, too). Plus, the money you spend is more likely to be significant, resulting in loss of Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund donations. Besides, birthdays provide something to break up the drudgery the witlesses impose on the flock.

Hey, if you want to get biblical about it, logs and slivers. Each one of us has enough to work on to be worrying about our brother. Top of the list - gossip and backbiting.

    Birthday

Definition: The day of one's birth or the anniversary of that day. In some places the anniversary of one's birth, especially that of a child is celebrated with a party and the giving of gift's. Not a Biblical teaching."_____Reasoning from the scriptures book page 68

Question: Jesus was shown to have attended a wedding feast. But where does it teach in the Bible were they are to be celebrated annually ?

In the Wacky world of a Jehovah's Witnesses they will throw a baby shower, but will stop short of celebratin' the life of the child .

" The Greeks believed that everyone had a protective spirit or daemon who attended his birth and watched over him in life. This spirit had a mystic relationship with the god on whose birthday the individual was born . The Romans also subscibed to this idea."____Reasoning from the Scriptures book page 69

Jehovah's Witnesses also believe that angel's who have a relationship with the God they believe accompany them when out in field service
