Double edge asked you a good question. If your claim is true, then as a representative of the organization, you should be able to give a clear, explanation. You shouldn't need a book to do the explaining for you, and he or she shouldn't have to wait for the next jw visit.

When a Witness visits your door, ask them to bring you a copy of the Proclaimers book and you can read for yourself on the history of the Witnesses since the days of Russell.
Mav, all the proclaimers book does is give you the history as the WTS would have you see it. If you want to know the TRUE history. Read all the old WT publications.

MAVMAN...Coffee Black has a point. Either you believe it and can explain it or you don't. I'm not here to argue the merits of the claim to authority to act as God's "True" organization, I would just like someone to tell me. A few years ago, a JW friend tried to explain it to me saying it goes back 6,000 years, but they weren't specific. I know how to get from Abraham to Christ. But how do you get from Christ and his Apostles to Charles Russell...that they lost me. Can you explain it? An example...who in 1588 represented God's "true" kingdom when the Christian world was basically divided between the Catholics, Protestants and the Church of England?

Yeah, good idea, read the proclaimers book. Then read the hundreds of accounts that disagree with it, that fill in what the JWs left out, that tell the truth JWs don't want you to know. Then have an elder come over and watch a real spin doctor at work, they're amazing.
Isn't there a book out there debunking the Proclaimer book ?

A better book to learn about the real history of the movement known as Jehovah's Witnesses, is James Penton : Apocalypse Delayed.
