JW kids' teachers need to be taught not to leave evidence at the corner of a child's mouth on birthdays and holidays. School counselors need to be notified when kids' parents are JW's, but I don't know what they can do to mitigate a situation like this one.

This is plain spiritual abuse. What's wrong with a cupcake? I suppose that thing that calls itself her father is going to take that Christmas bonus and think nothing of it? This is the exact same thing. All intended to blah-ify children's lives--and worse, even if someone in school happens to be able to mitigate this abuse, the "father(??)" is going to add more abuse. Result: Not being able to take advantage of any situation that is to your advantage. You get a raise in adult life--it is another "cupcake". You get promoted, another "cupcake". You find a mate you are attracted to instead of a frumpy one, another "cupcake". You get that Cree light bulb instead of those squiggly things, another "cupcake". Something you wanted goes on sale at a good price, another "cupcake". The world is so full of "cupcakes" that these children are supposed to be afraid of.
At least the thing calling itself my "father" didn't have joke-hova to work with. While that thing worked so hard to deaden my initiative to be all I could have been (which may be part of why I became a jokehovian witless in the first place) and to take all the fun out of my life, at least that thing couldn't get it all. Fun at school ("cupcakes"). One student that made us take a longer route home on the bus--an extra 10 minutes of ride time plus 10 minutes less spiritual abuse--another "cupcake". And no joke-hova to watch--that thing calling itself my "father(??)" obviously couldn't watch me to make sure we go directly home and that nothing funny happens in school.
I hope the religion goes down. This girl deserves to learn how to practice black magick (to the witlesses, that is far worse than a lousy cupcake) and use it against those practicing this spiritual abuse. To me, teaching children to be afraid of anything and everything positive is worse than simple sexual "abuse". (Which usually accompanies the actual sexual act--thanks to the vatican and its minions.) Children (and adults) need fun in their lives, and taking all the fun out of life damages the soul. And it smacks of communism--there is little enjoyment in pure communism.

@ LouBelle: I know it! I remember last summer when I was working, one of the students brought in homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting...OMG!!!! I was very much looking forward to grabbing a piece after I was done interpreting. Of course some asked why there was cake and the student who brought it said it was for the teacher because it was for his birthday.....So needless to say I left very disappointed because I didn't take a piece of cake. Looking back I can see how stupid that really is! I'm very much looking forward to celebrating my birthday in July, it's coming up soon :) I told my mom to make me birthday cupcakes. LOL. I will probably post pictures!
@Outsmartedthesystem: I really feel for you right now because of the situation you are in. I don't know where you live, but can you report your wife to the courts or child protective services (CPS)? To me this is mental abuse on your children, it's depriving them of a normal childhood. Your ex is using the fear monger tactics on them to follow her. If there is a good counselor who interviews your children, your kids will then tell them what the mom is really like. It's so NOT right!!!!!! I really hope you can get things worked out, and hopefully when your kids are older you can start to tell them TTATT and prevent them from joining the Borg. There has to be something you can do with either the courts or CPS, maybe a court order from the judge saying your ex can't interfere with what the children do while they are with you? Can you have a consult with a lawyer? Maybe once your youngest gets older and can keep a secret you can do more.

@Mum: I was actually talking to a retired teacher and told her about this experience and she told me when she was a teacher she had a JW in her class, and she said his parents ALWAYS gave her hell. She said she felt horrible because this kid was always hungry and his step-mom (JW) would never give him enough food, so when there was a birthday party she felt horrible that she had to send the JW kid to the library and not feed him. It just makes me sick!!!!! But yes if teachers do this, they need to make sure the kids face shows no evidence of the cupcake eating. I also realized when I was talking to this retired teacher, she said one day she forgot this JW kid was in the room during a bday party and the teacher aid started to freak out because the kid was eating bday stuff and they were afraid of the parents! I always thought that teachers were horrible because they force the kids to eat these evil cupcakes, but you know what. I really think the teachers feel sorry for the kids and try to sneak them or the teachers just don't even think about it because the JW's are the abnormal ones.
@WTWizard: You make a valid point about all the "cupcakes" in this world. Not too long after I learned TTATT, I started to realize and remember all the "cupcakes" I missed out on. In the last month though, I'm start to almost relive my childhood, and do some of those things I've missed out on as a child and as an adult. It's just makes me so mad and frustrated that these parents tell their kids they are going to die at Big A if they eat a cupcakes, and yet don't educate their kids about molesters or teaching them to watch out for the really dangerous things. It's no wonder I turned out halfway descent being raised like this...Although my parents weren't like this at all. Sure they told me not to eat bday cupcakes, and not to do things WTBT$ said is wrong, but they were NEVER this mean and sick about it. Plus my dad also taught me to be a critical thinker, so that helped later when I started to wake up to TTATT. Thank God for that! It's sad and I agree with you. I wish this cult would be taken out!

Ok, so we'll put aside any sort of official 'celebratory' days (such as Birthdays and Hallowe'en) even though the Bible states not to judge people in this way (Colossians 2:16 : Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. NIV) .
