Ah yes, I've done the breath sort of one: my old psychologist taught me to do it to control my anxiety. I too have depression and anxiety, and I've heard ages ago that meditation can help, but it was one of those JW no-nos because apparently it can lead to demon possession.

READ YOUR BIBLE OR BIBLES study topics on this site and site like 2001translation.com paridisecafeforum etc. the more you learn from ex jw's and other ones that have bible knowledge the better your faith will be. Also educate youself enough so you dont go of and just start believing some other christian doctrine, learn to be a borean, your faith then will grow.

Are you a spiritual person ? or a religous person ? A religous person would be looking for answers to his questions based on known religous tennets such as Christianity , Islam , etc. etc.
A spiritual person is one who embraces other outward appearances outside of the norm , with an open mind .

Julia,
I would really give it some time. Try and savour the time you now have. Talking from my own perspective, I did not find - and have still not found - any church association fulfilling. There are far too many things that remind me of where I'd been and why I would no longer want to get back there. Christianity you can practice by following some of the basics that Jesus laid down - for instance fellow feeling, love for others, etc. If eventually doing so in a loose associative framework works for you, the gap period would at least have given you some time to search without being in too much of a hurry.
Best of luck.

"Focus on Jesus" is usually too broad.
Read what the Bible has to say about him.
When something significant and meaningful to you strikes you, focus on that.
Because of your WT training, the idea of praying to Jesus may freak you out. I'm not suggesting you force something that would violate your conscience, but please be aware that first century Christians called on the name of Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:2) as did Paul himself (2 Corinthians 12:7-9).

Band on the Run
I faced the same problem. Jesus was my center and I did not want to throw the baby out with the bath water. My journey was clumsy and took time. As others have posted, I read Bible texts with no assistance. I was shocked at WT lies. ' Next, I took a series of undergrad courses on Bible history. The course work changed my life. I now knew the better seminaries in the country that explored the material. Through the years, I would call profs and ask for the best resources.
One day I stumbled upon a large community church that I always ignored. It was a great match. I had no idea what they taught. Several friends are shocked that I just wandered in with no research bc the match be tween the church and my core is extraordinary. My fear of Babylon the Great was huge but I desperately needed to be normal. Since I had no clue what to say to a minister or how to receive communion, I literally ran away from the nicest priests. Now I seek them out and scream in jest, Woe to you, the great where, Babylon the Great. You are despicable. L Follow your own heart. O

Can one feel spiritually frustrated? Like you want to follow Jesus but are being stifled?
In circumstances like yours? Yep! I know those feelings. We can find ourselves in 'spiritual limbo.' We cannot move or grow. Reading the Bible and prayer are fine, but then we want to share what we discover with our religious community. We can't. We can't integrate and worship with another religious community either. So we're stuck. Eventually, meetings become for us so much a spiritual wasteland, yet we are not free to find an oasis elsewhere without unpleasant consequences. The problem is that staying in 'spiritual limbo' for a considerable length of time can mean faith itself begins to stagnate or become dormant. It sucks.

My suggestion is to find one or two people on JWN whose posts and viewpoints help you most and PM them.
I'm not saying you shouldn't post publicly...
... just saying that with PMs you benefit from the JWN community without having the discussion go off in all sorts of unhelpful directions.
