Ucantnome - are you denying that the bible reflects the pre-scientific world in which it was written?
Cofty I don't think I've denied anything. Are you asking what I believe?
You admit you haven't moved on from the superstitious world of the bible and you appear to see no problem with that.
I find that very depressing. Reality is far more fulfilling than silly stories about angels and demons.
I haven't moved on from the bible. I think it's you who label it a superstitious world or do i have to reread my posts.
The same pre-scientific book that teaches epilepsy was caused by demon possession. The book that told the faithful to tear down a house that had mould because they thought it was leprosy. The book that assumes a flat earth, an original human pair and a global flood....
We have moved on a bit from this sort of superstition have we not? - me
No I haven't - you
I will be generous and assume you don't actually read it very much.
i read it more than you think Cofty. It might do you some good to pray
I've found it helpful when i read the bible. I've found it opens one's heart to God.
Ucantnome - I was a born-again evangelical bible-believing christian for almost a decade after I left the borg. I preached regularly in a conservative evangelical church.
The best cure for taking the bible seriously is to read it more.
cofty I must retire. I know it's not easy to believe.
I know it's not easy to believe.
Its very easy to believe - and very comforting.
Its much harder to confront reality.
