I feel like what was happening here on JWN in relation with the group has been the best thing happen for the Watchtower. I could no longer keep my mouth shut. I had to do the right thing. ...Blindnomore
And that is the problem...you are going on your FEELINGS about it. Instead of the facts. AAWA cannot harm the watchtower....I'd be surprised if they are capable of harming a fly. They aren't even capable of running a cohesive organisation that gets exjw supporting it (the very people the WTS has harmed). And dump on any exjws that don't agree with them.
I'm glad you feel you are doing the right thing...but that makes you no different to those of us who don't want to be lied to by yet another organisation. And AAWA has done nothing but misinform, lie and blame since their appearance here.
If you are ok being associated with an organisation that outed innocent people and didn't care enough to deal with it IMMEDIATELY. Then I think you are blinded by your own feelings. And cannot see that that was NOT ok.
And if you honestly think that what has happened has be the best thing for the Watchtower...ask yourself...who REALLY caused that by their inappropriate bahaviour. Who continues to control comments on their website...and control information?
The watchtower will NOT BE BROUGHT DOWN BY INFORMATION CONTROL.

But, wasn't that their malicious act? And a malicious person will FIND A WAY to victimize good people. That can happen anywhere. In RL (Real Life, ie, face-to-face), or on the internet.

Like I said, my email did get hacked a while ago (it's not connected to facebook or any other social media or junk stuff, I have an email for THAT), and I emailed the people from JWN that I knew - some of them had been compromised - and we all changed our passwords. Shit is gonna happen .. a certain measure of trust is involved when we give out any email address. Nowadays, all the social media (facebook gmail yahoo etc.) use 'bots' and cookies to data-mine our computers. It's hard to be safe. Going to the thread that explained how the email accounts were hacked in the first place definitely suggests it was the work of a spammer and not in anyway Watchtower related. They will repeatedly go back and try again over and over especially when the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc attempts keep bringing them the results they are after. Upgrade your security blindnomore... for your own sake.
Blindnomore, in the thread you linked to in your OP that Atlantis made about sending documents through Emails, several people gave ample warnings and reminders about giving out emails for such things BEFORE you even posted that you sent your Email info to Atlantis.

FYI, if you're a fader or still "in" somehow you shouldn't use your regular email address. I have a "junk" one that I use. Just in case Atlantis' email list got compromised in this witch hunt.

To anyone with something to lose if your email address got out: MAKE AN ANONYMOUS EMAIL ADDRESS!!!! That's fading 101. I made a whole seprate email for all my "apostate" sites and my twitter account for privacy. I made up a name to use with it also. Gmail, hotmail, yahoo are all easy to use for this.

this is the internet, anyone can claim to be anyone, anyone can have an "awakening" or grow a conscience overnight. Don't give out personal info if you have anything to lose. A confidential email address takes two minutes to create, you just have to check it every once in a while, and I strongly recommend it for reasons that should be obvious.
The above quotes are a sampling of some of the warnings/reminders that people took the time to write so people wouldn't have problems. The above quotes were also written BEFORE you posted to that thread. The first warning post was written on that thread on 12/12/12, and the others gave warnings and reminders on most every page of that thread on 12/13, 12/14, 12/15, and 12/16 until you responded to Atlantis to that thread on 12/17.
Several people gave warnings BEFOREHAND throughout the whole 6 page thread that you either didn't bother to read, or else you read the warnings and decided to take your chances anyways, and when something bad happened, you conveniently start this thread FOUR MONTHS later during the AAWA fiasco. Why didn't you start this thread when it happened last December instead of waiting for a time when the board is already full of drama about AAWA? Why now, and why blame Simon and others, especially when they have warned people over and over to be careful who you give your info to???
I'm sorry that you were "Outed", but in order for it to not happen again, one needs to take some personal responsibility too, to protect themselves from people on the internet who may not be who they say they are, or getting hacked etc.

No - I posted a screenshot of the Group page with instructions on how to leave - by design no personal details were shown. The image was not hyperlinked to Facebook or any other location leading to Facebook. Try it yourself with the same image below.
See - nothing happens - it goes nowhere and no personal data is revealed. None. Zip. Nada.

You will have to establish that posting 3 peoples names on an internet forum is a breach of confidentiality. You can't just state that as a fact - it isn't.
I did not link their real names to their JWN usernames, unlike one certain JBD.

They also saw no problem with the confidentiality of the 800 people they added to an apostate Facebook Group without consent.
Did you get a court order? Were you granted by the Judge?
Court order, judge - what are you talking about? In the first instance I would expect any of the 3 named individuals to contact me via this forum or via Facebook if they have a problem - they haven't. They know they were in the wrong, they have removed the Group, they have made a generic apology. End of story.
Are you above the law like the Watchtower?
I think you will find the Watchtower is pretty much within the laws of the land - not really the point here though, nor is comparing me to the Watchtower relevant.

Good question - thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify. The file I made was instantly deleted. If you want I can try and restore a backup and get you a copy - let me know.
