    10*0.999 = 9.99, not 9.999. If x = 0.999, then 10x - x = 8.991.

Ep: the proof is actually sound (in the sence you can do all the manipulations in that order)

I know, but there was a basic math error and a switching between infinity and finite.

    Hi EP

"there was a basic math error and a switching between infinity and finite"

I was careful in my graphic to use the recurring decimal, i.e 0.999... (I made a mistake in not doing that in the Title - too late to change it now).

    So, I didn't state that "10*0.999 = 9.99", I said that 10x = 9.999...

I believe I made no mathmatical errors nor switched between infinity and finite.

    I think ;)

    Nicolau, if x = 0.999, 10x does NOT = 9.999, it's 9.99

Which is larger an infinite set of all numbers or an infinite set of only even numbers?
