Yes, you should be looking for another job. The important issue for you, though, is your credit history and having to make payments late.

I don't know about South Africa, but here in the States, most creditors will work with you if you call them, or notify them in writing, as to why your payments are late. Request that they waive late fees and not put it on your credit report because it is not your fault. It is your employer, not you, who is a bad credit risk.

It's not a nice situation to be in, I once worked for a company that went bust - you turn up for work one day and boom, you're unemployed and don't get the pay that was owed you.

I'd make searching for a better employer a high priority.

In the art of negotiation, if one party makes a change, it entitles the other party to do so, as well. In your situation, as they have made a change toward late payment, you could change your side to something like taking time off to look for other work. Just a thought. They could always escalate, so you need to be mentally prepared for that. As some have pointed out, you may show one day to find the job gone, anyway.

HI everyone, great advice. I am currently looking ernestly for a job - trust me. I have been on interviews etc, but this is South Africa and right now it's extremely difficult.

We do have a governmental department that is supposed to help - called the CCMA. However they are so inundated with stuff that getting satisfactory help is very rare.

Anyway I'll keep looking, keep searching and hope for something better.
