Did You Ever See Yourself Getting Out Of The JW Religion?

Even though I realized there were different issues that I had, it took YEARS for me to finally decide that I wanted out. It took less than a year for me to slowly get out and I did that successfully along with my daughter and my then wife. We all are still all happily out.

Did you believe that you would be anything but a Jehovah's Witness?

Yes I saw myself out when I was 17. After high school I pioneered in my home area and it was so boring. Bethel was out 0f the question I wasn't into slave labor plus we lived about an hour away from Bethel and I wasn't impressed. So I opted to pioneer where the need was great. I made a good faith attempt to stay in by working with a small congregation in a rural area. Met my wife which was one good reward but the hand writing was on the wall. We both got out when I was 23. Best move we ever made.

Oh yes......we weren't shunned but my Mother and sister were uber JWs. They would never let it go or let up on it.

My Niece who is also an uber witness does shun us to a degree she doesn't keep us up to date with her two children , no personel visits or phone calls.

It's not a problem for us, just sad for her. So that makes 40 years of her indifference.

My take is that for certain people being a witness is their full time career and their life..........it doesn't matter if Armageddon never comes.

    MINIMUS:

I was not a "born in" but came in as a young adult.

Even after several rude awakenings, I didn't really entertain serious thoughts of leaving the JW religion until their 1995 changed teaching of generation.

Then I knew the party was over.

Never. I helped so many who seemed to have lost their way, (in the Truth ( tm). I was a beacon of love for any congregation I was in. I tried to off-set the ugliness of backstabbing and gossip and hurt feelings. I didn't know I was also being lied to by The Society.

I was shocked, when I read C of C by Ray Franz.

Before I read it, I was in...read it that evening and thru the night. By 5 AM, I was out.

    Just Lois
