Guess I've been lurking long enough. Been about 2 yrs or longer.
Take a lot of nerve for the first post.My husband and I both left
together although he knew long before I did. Hard to tell your mate
of 50 yrs. that we were in the wrong religion and ours was a cult.
We were baptized in 56 so you see it was a hard thing to do (leave)
We have 4 kids and 11 grandkids and 3 great grandson's. They are
all JW. some weak. Last 2 years have been really hard as my husband
had a 3 way bypass 1-1/2 years ago. The stress of being shunned is
more than some of us older exjw need.
Best advice that I have seen on here is that we can't change the jw's
no matter how hard we try.Unless something happens in their lives to
change them. Also if you are coming out of the org. make new friends before you leave. It is really hard at our age. We do know reckless and he and Jo are our friends we get together often. Have a couple more here and they are a blessing. This is it for this time
thank you all for being here. You been more help than you know.
Yes I would like to make some new friends here.

Welcome and I'm happy for you. It is hard making friends outside isn't it? I was lucky that I was only in for a few years. So many of my "worldly" friends accepted me back. More than I can say for my JW friends who dropped us like hot rocks as soon as we were on our way to becoming inactive.
Take care, please keep checking in and let us know how things are going for you.
