    ADCMS,

" In the past at least the governing body and anointed superficially pretended to be on the same level as the rank-and-file. Now they are blatantly better than all of us. The GB has hijacked the honor that used to go to all anointed and has taken it exclusively for themselves. So much for god's spirit operating equally for all Jehovah's Witnesses: "

How right you are. Notice this quote from today's WT study.

Do You Have, " A Heart to Know " Jehovah?

    18) And we can work with Jehovah as he gives us " a heart to know " him. In fact, that is what he promised to do for anointed ones in the new covenant.

    Here is the scriptural support:

(Jeremiah 31:31-34) "Look! There are days coming," is the utterance of Jehovah, "and I will conclude with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant; 32 not one like the covenant that I concluded with their forefathers in the day of my taking hold of their hand to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt, 'which covenant of mine they themselves broke, although I myself had husbandly ownership of them,' is the utterance of Jehovah." 33 "For this is the covenant that I shall conclude with the house of Israel after those days," is the utterance of Jehovah. "I will put my law within them, and in their heart I shall write it. And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people." 34 "And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying, 'KNOW Jehovah!' for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them," is the utterance of Jehovah. "For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more."

The other sheep are not in the new covenant according to current light. Therefore, the other sheep are dependant upon..... The FDS/GB to " know Jehovah." The law cannot be in their hearts, the do need someone to be teaching them. The new covenant is for the forgiveness of sins. The Great Crowd of " other sheep" must benefit by extension only.

So you are totally reliant upon the anointed, aka, the FDS/GB. You are doomed without them.

    Good point Terry

I mentioned previously that F Franz claimed to be anointed and he himself came up with the 1975 deceiving commercialized fraud.

I wonder if that boozing womanizing philanderer J Rutherford was anointed, one would assume he self proclaimed himself as such.

I was recently acquainted with the exhaustive - and blatantly inaccurate and crazy - theorizing by a "Dr Thomas", the "founder" of the Christadelphians.

He was an earlier "contemporary" of Chuck Russell - and some have accused Russell of "stealing" the Christadelphians main teachings. They're probably correct in their accusation. Christadelphians do not believe in the Trinity or Hellfire, are conscientious objectors who do not vote and who hate Catholicism and are scathing in their views of Christendom - although like all "decent" religious groups, JWs included, have toned down their rabid attacks on other religious groups in recent decades.

Dr Thomas's quaint - and hilariously self-important - interpretation of Scripture, led him on several occasions to predict the end of the world in his own day. He was BIG,BIG,BIG on the rapture.

Of course, the fact that every single one of his predictions failed did not stop Christadelphians from growing like wildfire and spreading around the globe to even invade the sleepy shores of New Zealand. Mercifully, the Christadelphians heyday is well and truly over, with successive census's in New Zealand, for example, showing a continuing decline of membership.

The Christadelphians - a vainly fading precursor of what awaits the witnesses in the decades to come.

Oh yea, how humble the GB was supposed to be. Wasn't that part of the sell, no Clergy class? No one is your leader, for you are all brothers.....

I met some of the original anointed back in the early 70's- a handful of them had separate 'tower studies on Sunday afternoon, -Needless to say, that didn't sit well with the "official" KH leadership. They all had extensive collections of Russell's books, too. I never met any anointed who was special in any way- other JWs thought they were and the special honor fed upon itself- of course, everyone was saying the end was only a few years away and not once did I hear an anointed JW ever publicly go against the official WT , stay alive 'til 75 timeline. After 1975, I could sense that the anointed became just chopped liver in the KH. Looking back, those original ones had put all their hopes into 1975, too. They went down with the ship mentally and passed on. By the 1980's all those original ones I knew had died-

Villagegirl has it right, all who believe in Christ as the messiah and get baptized receive holy spirit or are anointed period. The 144k may be the first-fruits (chosen by Yehovah after their deaths) but otherwise there is no distinction (Romans chapter 3). Rutherford started a distinction and a two class idea in his writing of the Vindication book 3, thought the great crowd were unworthy so he made them less then himself. called them Jonadabs did not allow them to get baptized and could not even come to the memorial celebration.

I knew about the term, muy I didn't know about the uninvitation to the memorial. No Baptism sorta floors me

My personal opinion is that direct contact with the Living God would reduce the material human creature to some sort of "essence" rather

than inflate him or her into a know-it-all with doctrines, directions and an organizing spirit for corporate takeover of god's earthly interests.

Yet, look out at the vast ocean of know-it-alls with their smug expressions and self-authored "truths" with a chokehold on simple people who only

want to love god but who are vulnerable to power trips by some jumped-up Authority figure eager to lead them nowhere in god's name.

If everybody who believes in Jesus also fed the hungry, visited prisoners, helped widows and orphans and turned the other cheek I might readily

agree that EVERYBODY is anointed who professes Christ as their Saviour. But--I do NOT see that.

What I see are bumper stickers, TV Evangelists, "Truth" for sale, condescension instead of humility and knee-jerk resort to judging when

love would work a whole lot better.

    But, your mileage may differ.
