There are some perfumes that I absolutely just love and a little squirt of it can bring back such good memories, make you feel sexy. My favorite is Dolce & Gabbana (red), followed by D&G "The one", followed by CoCo Chanel

On men, I love the smell of the original Hugo Boss - used to make my tummy clench in a good way

The only down size is that the smells can tickle my nose - which brings on a sneezing fit.

I like Coco Chanel Mademoiselle and used to wear it every day but I have discovered a high street store called Next has a perfume very smilar for a tenth of the price so I wear that instead for day time and at home and just use the Chanel when I go out.

and sad to say my wife very very rarely wears perfume. pity.

I have worn Eau De Givenchy for years and have received compliments on it.

I was drawn to Joy when young. It is way too expensive. They make an expensive eau de toilette. It is very rich and multifloral. Patou makes it. It is legendary. Next, I was drawn to spices, such as Opium, YSL, and Chloe Narcisse. I get headaches when I wear fragrance and would hate to give anyone else a violent headache.

Now I am drawn to Jo Malone cologne and lighter Hermes ones.

There is a place in NY that makes copies of perfumes. I could not wait to get my hands on their product. It smells just like the original for the first few minutes. When that time passes, you will want to vomit before you can shower it off. There used to be long lines to get into the store.

I read that fragrance is regional. It is very popular in the South compared to the North.

Salespeople always want me to wear a new fragrance. I find this strange b/c when I was young, you wanted to be a legend - a la Chanel or Patou. Guerlain's fragrances evoke the Jazz Age and flappers. Why would I want to wear a fragrance chosen by Beyonce or Kim Kardashian?

I once was a White Linen freak. IMO, it is better to purchase a small bottle of the real thing than oodles of cheaper perfume. Joy was so heavy I only wore it on special occasions and dates. I purchase a Lalique bottle in Paris for my 21st birthday present to myself. It lasted a decade. If I wore Joy to work, I would be sent home.

My wife's favorites are Red Door, White Linen and Ysatis. The latter, we jokingly refer to as "Easy tease".... (She came up with that, not me!)

I always wore Obsession, and for a while Opium, but no longer wear scents ... other CK fragrances I really liked and wore were CK1 and CKbe ...

As a teen, I wore Coty Wild Musk, but discovered that is a 'trigger' for me, so musk no more! :P

Others have mentioned White Linen ,, ahhh! also, I remember the beautiful bottle and smell of my aunt's "An Evening in Paris" ... hehe

And Hugo Boss for men! I agree, LouBelle

(ps, thinking of you today, sending a hug)

It is funny. I gave people a White Linen high. A salesman at Bloomingdale's screamed, "Who is wearing the White Linen?" I yelled, "Me." Someone gave me a huge bottle that her friend gave her. I no longer like it. If I recall correctly, it was around the same as I was Laura Ashley crazy. Well into my 30s, I was wearing dainty Liberty of London prints with lace and velvet. The dresses were shapeless.

Princess Diana was an influence, too. The Sloane Ranger look and Laura Ashely merged. All these sophiscated NY young women not saving money or wearing Calvin Klein or Armani. We convinced each other we needed these dresses to get the right sort of husband. Church services were our mixers. It was crazy. Andie MacDowell was far worse than I. I needed to get married soon so that I could wear the proper Laura Ashley cotton country wedding dress. Cotswalds calling.

Now I think we did not want to grow up. When I read that most women prefer sons, I polled friends. We all wanted daughters to dress them in party dresses with smocking and big sashes. Mary Janes with anklets were required. We never grew up.

I should take some photos of my dresses in storage and post them.

I could not afford Laura Ashley cologne or I would have chosen that for perfume.

Well, I still love "White Shoulders." Not the copy that is sold by Evyan, but the real thing. I always get compliments when I wear it. It's hard to find, though, so recently I tested a lot of perfumes at a perfume counter and wound up with "Daisy," by Marc Jacobs. I deliberately ignored any perfume sold by a name -- as someone earlier said, why would I want a perfume picked out by Beyonce, or for god's sake, Justin Bieber?

I'm glad thinking about perfume is making you feel a little better, LouBelle.
