    Simon,

I don’t know which video you’re talking about because you don’t say.

The guy they killed was actively hurling bombs and shooting at the police, not to mention evading arrest! They didn’t know but that the guy was about to blow a whole truckload of explosive in the middle of a neighborhood! I’d have taken him out myself given half a chance.

The guy they wounded in the boat they didn’t know if he was carrying another explosive or not, and if so how powerful. Of this guy, I suspect police were trying to shoot around him to impede setting off any explosive and hopefully capture him alive.

I have no idea what you mean by “prime directive”.

“We're now talking about an unarmed person being questioned by at least 3 people.”

Policemen have husbands, wives and children too. So what is your point? I wasn’t there and don’t know the immediate threat. Were you there? Do you know the immediate threat?

Wow Marvin. You really have drunk the cool aid !

Read that and then tell me that things don't sound fishy.

Apparently he confessed to a murder, was cooperating, then later that night attacked them with a knife and they shot him dead.

How much time between cooperating and confessing? Where did he get the knife? Where did they take him? Why didn't they search him?

They seem keen to push the 'martial arts' aspect and 'fighting skill beyond a regular person' but this seems week because it's just based on a parking lot scuffle. 160lbs? ... I think my kids could overpower him.

If you think that is all "good police work" then I have a bridge I can sell you.

    Simon,

    Ad hominem. Learn about it.

I have not suggested the instance you cite is or is not “good police work”.

I’ve said I was not there and do not know the immediate threat.

So what is the point of attacking my person rather than sticking with facts?

A person who acts as you have is no source to determine what is or is not “good police work”.

A competent person will look to learn more before jumping to conclusions.

My initial response in this discussion was of your comment about the shooting of “the first suspect”. What you wrote about this initial shooting is patently absurd. Policemen drew weapons and opened fire on a person who was hurling bombs and returning fire. Policemen acted by shooting and killing “the first suspect”. That’s what they should have done.

Yeah Marvin - you started with the bogus argument techniques so stop with the lectures and stick to the topic.

"Have you ever been under fire?"

Designed to remove authority to have an opinion and give the appearance that only your viewpoint matters.

Face it, the story is fishy and the irrelevant detail they are putting out sounds like they are trying to paint a picture.

    What’s wrong with you, Simon?

I started by addressing what you wrote of the shooting of the first suspect. You wrote as though men under fire are acting ridiculously by returning fire. Hence my question to you “Have you ever been under fire?” You didn’t answer.

It’s patently absurd to think it ridiculous for law enforcement to open lethal fire on a person who’s actively engaged in throwing bombs and bullets at them.

“Designed to remove authority to have an opinion and give the appearance that only your viewpoint matters.”

Only you know what sense that’s supposed to mean. I’ve responded to the nonsense you wrote by asking questions.

“Face it, the story is fishy and the irrelevant detail they are putting out sounds like they are trying to paint a picture.”

I don’t know if the most current story is fishy or not.

    1. I don’t know that the story is correct in important details. Do you?

    2. As written the story is incomplete.

As I said already, I wasn’t there and do not know whatever was or was not any immediate threat deserving lethal response.

So far you’ve offered no more than opinion based on what is, at best, incomplete information.

I guess you know the meaning of ad hominem, MS.

Here's one you could ponder for a while before you try derailing yet another discussion:

    RED HERRING

    Definition:

An observation that draws attention away from the central issue in an argument or discussion; an informal logical fallacy.

    Etymology:

From the practice of distracting hunting dogs by dragging a smelly, salt-cured herring across the trail of the animal they were pursuing

    Examples and Observations:

    • A red herring is a detail or remark inserted into a discussion, either intentionally or unintentionally, that sidetracks the discussion. The red herring is invariably irrelevant and is often emotionally charged. The participants in the discussion go after the red herring and forget what they were initially talking about; in fact, they may never get back to their original topic."

    “They possibly killed him so…”

And possibly mind rays from Mars took control of the FBI agents. So what?

    Possibilities are endless!
