Putting my old HR hat back on for a minute here.
It MIGHT (note emphasis) be useful if you put it in terms of what you did. DO NOT mention the title or the religion. I'm thinking something like "volunteered to run a literature counter at my church, responsible for distribution of material, inventory of items on hand, accounting for funds due from church members" or something like that. Don't put more than about one line on the resume.
Volunteer work looks good on a resume, provided you were doing something that resembles a real job. It tells potential employers that you think of yourself as part of a community and shows (hopefully) some ability to self-start and direct your own work.
Good luck with the job search.

I had a friend who used to put on his resume that he did public speaking and cold calling (number 2 talks and witnessing)

I never have, and I never will, voluntarily disclose that I was ever a jw. Those people are freaks!

I agree with JeffT's comment.
Ministerial Servant = Volunteer Lay Minister
Don't mention the JW religion. Contrary to what we were told, it would have no greater appeal that any other Christian denominiation. Just the fact that you are the type of person willing to volunteer your personal time to a "good cause". It could easily be the JayCees or Kiwanis or KofC.
Good luck!
