It is the moderates who are totally confused! The Koran is not teaching peace and love at all. It is the fanatics who are correctly representing what the teachings of Muhammed are: violent and bloody extermination of the NON-believers in every OTHER religion! And he suddenly knew he could not have any connection with it--OR a God who displayed such a mindset!
Absolutely. Extreme Islamist views should indeed represent the majority of Muslims. Islam is as much a religion of peace as JW's are a religion of inclusion.

He offered me a job at his car dealership, too. I haven't been employed in about a year and a half--so, it will be great to have an opportunity to spend time with him in conversation and perhaps earn some money trying to sell used cars.
BRILLIANT - I wish you every success in new career.....

You are a seasoned pro, so I guess this post in worthless chatter. peace to you Terry!
I smiled when I read your post because my mind works the same way. When I first met Fahim I was working with a lady who use to work
at the C.I.A. She would never admit it, but, her mysterious personal history provided enough clues over a couple of years I could put the pieces
together. He boyfriend had known her when she lived in Virginia and he'd come around and we'd talk. He did contract work for the government and had a ranch on the side.
Anyway...
When 9/11 happened I started to subconsciously "worry". Fahim was the only Muslim I knew. "What if"? You know?
So, I wrote his name, address and phone number down on a sheet of paper and I went to the C.I.A. lady. I explained to her why I was
asking. She took the paper and didn't say anything, But, she didn't protest. About ten days later she came up to me and said, "Your friend is okay."
I was startled. I had forgot all about my doubts by then.
"You mean, Fahim?"
She nodded and never said another word about it.

Ha ha ha. It is a very tiny car lot with only a dozen cars presently.
Fahim told me he had paid to have a large sign installed.
I suggested, JIHAD MOTORS and he laughed. It will be quite awhile before either of us make a lot of mony.

This is a wonderful story, Terry. Thank you for sharing it with us. Not all Islamic people are crazy. Same as Christians. It's the radicals that are destroying things.
I got a copy of the Koran like a decade ago
It's an interesting idea to read the Quran. I have read it contains contradictions and inaccurate info same as the Bible. Just as an FYI... the Quran is similar to the Bible in that there are many different translations and no original texts exist.

I watched Fahim interact with his brother and sister-in-law yesterday. It was amusing.
Fahim is the soft-touch in the family. People take advantage of him. Even his brother.
Sam has owed Fahim for a car for a long time now and finally came in to give him a check. (Not all he promised....just enough to save face).
Sam was telling me about working with the army in Afghanistan. He was on IED detail searching for explosive devices planted on the roadway.
Several different methods were used. A slight lump on an otherwise flat surface is telltale. An electronic circuit detector must be place close to
the "lump" and if any electricity is active the needle will jump. An armored vehicle with long arms and a roller is then rolled over the lump to detonate
it. Sam drove that vehicle! He loved telling about being blown up twice!
Same said, "Thank God I wasn't hurt!"
Fahim replied, "Yes, thank god--or I wouldn't have had the privilege of selling you a car!"
His sly grin said it all.

The "Jehovah" of the Watchtower is supposed to be doing the same, very soon ! Despite the N.T view of God, the JDubs insist that "violent and bloody extermination" is imminent for all non-JW's.
I do hope that your fine friend Fahim is part of what will soon become the Zeitgeist, "religion poisons everything" as the late Christopher Hitchins was wont to say, that thought needs to grow in more and more people, then the world will not be perfect, but a much better place.
