This couple will fit in just fine - until they get tired or grow old. Then they will be released of their duties.
Relationships in the organization have been carefully crafted over the years. Here's how it works: the 'slave' has provided you with the "truth" and the opportunity for salvation and everlasting life (perfection) and the trade is that you give all your time (and now your mind, heart and conscience) and your money to the 'slave' or 'mother'.
The biblical justification is that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving. Simple...right?
SUCKER I remember one cat who went to MTS and got the most shit, ass backwards assignments they could give him.
Here's a related thought. I know this is a little mean.
When I think of how miserable being a JW made me... and then I think of some of the assholes that are JW's... I consider it poetic justice.
That's me being ugly on a bad day and admitting it.
Our CO told a story about a guy from a backwater country. He made $ 30 US a month in a coal mine. Then he got a job on a Cargo Ship making $300.00 US per month. Imagine that! How would you like to make 10x what you get now?! Well, this man was preached to in a port. He learned " The truth " and guess what?! He went back to the coal mine because " the truth " was sooo valuable!!
There is no way that I would give up 10x's the income I have now for the WTBTS. They are stupid for demanding that kind of thinking. They must not want anyone to be able to afford contributions in the future..
At least Jesus disciples gave up everything but got to see miracles and did not have to work for a living while traveling with Jesus (But what do we get? Just WT Dogma). Now BTW, this guy simply does not have the guts to use the same legalist approach and say that after careful consideration using the Bible and prayer they decided to stay where they are. Very easy to do...
That is the problem with a higher education with the WT Soc. They will assign you to where they want you to go. They should all of a sudden develop some illness, and bow out.
I think the GB love it when people will expend themselves, at their own expense.
I know a young married couple who were pioneering in Mexico on their own, with no backing from the WT. One is Canadian and the other is American. Neither one is building up any sort of pension in either country. Now they are being asked to go to Guatemala - again at their own expense.
I predict they will one day find themselves coming back from their "foreign service", with no education, no retirement, no family to look after them, no pension. And the WT will tell them, "You did all that on your own. Don't expect anything from us."
Neither one is building up any sort of pension in either country.
Ouch! ... and you're right. 'Consequences? What are those?'
... about as much foresight as drug addicts.
JUST SAY NO
