"skeptical optimist", yeah, I like that! The older I get, the less I automatically trust anyone. People are different... I'd trust one with a secret that I couldn't trust with anyone else... and I'd trust another with my money which I wouldn't entrust with anyone else... there are different types of trust.
Do I trust that the government has my best interests at heart? No. My experience has taught me that they don't care about the 'little people' who pay their salary.
Do I trust the police to protect me? There would be instances where I would, and instances where I wouldn't - they take their orders from the government, after all.
Lawyers? um, from my experience, no.
Doctors? Some seem to work for the pharmaceuticals they sell, so I'm in the process of selecting a homeopathic doctor... he might work for the supplements he sells, we'll see. There are a LOT of doctors, so most people must shop around for one they trust.
ANY of my hubby's friends? Again, from experience, NO. lol
Do I trust people in general? Yes - unless they've proven untrustworthy in the past. Experience is everything. And this isn't the same world I grew up in where we automatically gave someone the benefit of the doubt. So many things have changed that make it a pretty unpredictable life.
Clergy? Trust them with what, confessions of the soul? Nah. Maybe our ordeal with tatt has made us more skeptical, but I can't see that as a bad thing AT ALL.
