Both my wife and I were talking about some of the good times we had when we were JW`s ......and we did have good times socialising ,going out for meals ,hotels ,/ wedding functions /,with groups on barbequres /,camping at national parks , and beaches ,/enjoying fellowship at one anothers house on many an occassion ,/video nights / thearter nights with who we thought were good freinds ,our children grew up with their children and vice versa .I was a MS my wife was a people person who liked to entertain at home and many people responded to that. And I would say that apart from the first 5 years of our involvement and discarding the last few years of our leaving their was at least 20 + years of our relationship with our brothers and sisters who we considered our intimate freinds.

Once you leave the religion they dont want to know you ,I tried a couple of times with no response.

Whatever happened to trying to get you going again ? (not that we ever would but they dont know that )and no neither of us were disfellowshipped

I just think it`s a pity that in their veiw freindship is conditional on staying with the organization

If you disagree with the GB teachings, it is tantamount to being an enemy of Jehovah and Jesus. Obviously if they are serving Jehovah they cannot be friends with anyone who turns their back on the faith.

At least while you were in you had fun and good fellowship. More than I can say.

    Same here Rip.

Used to hear of gatherings, trips and dinners etc. but never got included.

The worst experience was when there was a "congregational BBQ" except it wasn't. There was about 100 bros and sisters but me and the other single sister I went with and our kids were asked to leave. We had brought food and drink but still couldn't stay.

Sorry to hear, Amelia. Right through the Bible we are encouraged to look after widows, orphans and the fatherless boy/girl. Oh yes, I forget, the WT and its adherents are very picky when adhering to Scripture.

I've heard of people not being invited, heck I've been one of them, but to actually tell you to leave! Jesus wouldn't have done that, but they don't follow Jesus like they bleat on about.

The Wt's got everyone so scared of 'bad associations' and pumped them full of them and us mentality, people don't wanna know you anymore.

Sad. I'm finding the same thing smiddy except my Facebook friends in other congregations still talk to me but that'll stop once the news I've gone inactive flies around the circuit at the upcoming CAs.

The hard thing to come to grips with: Some of the friendships in there felt so REAL. But conditional friendship is really only half-friendship, not the full meal deal. So in a way it's sad, because JW's never really have complete friendships in the organization because it can be dropped quickly over a difference in religious opinion.

Yes, I have some pleasant memories of good times in the beginning and there were a few people I thought I liked.

However, I realize this was the love-bombing phase and once this was over the rude awakenings came. My being ever-optimistic caused me to linger too long hoping I would feel that good feeling again. But, the honeymoon was over.

I saw the hypocrisy, class distinctions and conditional friendships. Never mind the crazy doctrines. I really couldn't stand it. Walking away was the best decision I made.

It's a painful thing when delusions are torn asunder. Conditional relationships exposed for what they are, etc.

    Reality check! Needed, but painful.

I never really fit in so I can't say I have many good memories. However, after the book study, we'd watch old reel to reels of the Keystone Cops and those were really funny. The time spent at the Norris' house was time well spent. Otherwise, it was all an uncomfortable requirement of being a Dub.

Amelia, did they tell you why they wanted you to leave?
