good times we had when we were JWs

Amelia, sorry to hear about such an awful experience.

Smiddy, there were good times, and if you were the organizer the friends generally responded and had a good time also. What's the old saying 'God is good until he ain't', it can all turn in a moment. One of the last BBQs I went to a brother made some comments about the changes going on, I think around 1995, and several friends went to the Elders and made a lot of trouble for the poor guy. I learned over the years that you could just never be truly open and speak your mind.

I'll echo what Anne said. Overall the majority of times was painful socially. We were always on the fringe - and I'm so glad. For a while in our 20s the KH was just a place to meet up with friends and go dancing after. These are the times I remember with fondness. But that was the minor part of the picture.

I think the automatic social network is what is most often missed.

After all, who misses the hours of sitting in an uncomfortable seat @ the KH listening to some uneducated fool drone on and on?

Even FS was better than that if you had your own pre-arranged car-group and spent most of the morning at Starbucks or McDonalds and the balance windshielding around looking for RVs that were not-at-home.

That is pathetic Amelia , but doesnt surprise me ,winesses are clicky ,I have seen it a lot in my 33years , but I initially put it down to human imperfection which many of us did.,not that it absolves us , it doesnt.

So the fact remains if you dont beleive exactly the same as the organization dictates/says in their publications eg.AWAKE or the WATCCHTOWER and you are a dedicated baptized person and you have come to a conclussion some of them are wrong ,you will be disfellowshipped /excommunicated

And if you are or were a baptized JW and disagree with their doctrines you will be dealt with as an apostate which can mean not seeing or hearing from your family again.

Amelia, that was truly horrible. Witnesses can be so cruel and not even think about it.
