Hi there everyone, Looking for some advice on helping my Sister who is studying the bible with a Jehovah’s witnesses to escape. She’s been studying for over a year now and attends meetings occasionally. I have been looking for a way to help her for a while now and the answer fell into my lap last week, during her study last week she mentioned that her son was going to a birthday party. At this the study conductor[S C} tried to make her see the error of her way, at which my sister would have none of it saying she was not prepared to deny a small child [7] a party and where in the bible does it say thou shall not calibrate birthdays. The {S C] could not quote verse of course but said all birthdays in the bible where evil things , blah. By the end of their conversation my Sister said she could see the vein’s coming out in [SC] neck and her face was red with rage saying “obviously you don’t have a proper grasp on the bible”. Thankfully this has really knocked my Sister and she pretty p%*£ed off. I feel this is my opportunity to make her see the light as I think this encounter is a perfect microcosm of the whole witness faith i.e. pure obedience dont ask questions e.t.c . During my conversation with her we got to talking about Armageddon where I informed her that only J witnesses believe they will survive. She did not believe this as she had asked the same question and was told that “who are we to judge that only god can judge which is complete bull as we know. So I think this is a perfect start so I was just looking for any other opinions on going about this further. Let’s do this people help me relice my sister from this snare. Thanks

Also about birthdays. JWs will only mention two, Pharoah and Herod both had someone's head chopped off. They do not mention the children of Job who celebrated their 'own' day. Whether it was a birthday or not, it was a 'special' day for each child. Job 1:4 If Job's children could celebrate their own special day why not us today?

Welcome Ed Daly, Have you read any of Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visited his website www.freedomofmind.com, or watched his videos?
Considering you sister's reaction to her JW conductor's reaction, I would suggest that you send your sister the link to Steve Hassan's video "Steve Hassan explains SIA method to rescue loved ones from unhealthy situations (2003)" with a note that the video will help her to understand her JW's conductor's reactions. Also, you might ask her why the Wathtower misquotes the Bible and teaches JWs to say either "Where else shall we go?" or "Where else shall we go Lord?" insteada of “Lord, to whom shall we go?" in John 6:68-69.
Best of wishes in helping your sister to critically think for herself instead of being recruited into a dangerous cult. But, don't tell your sister that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult, let her discover that through her own independent research.

Ask her if she knows of women who have dated a charmer. And then after she married him he turns from the sweet man she thought he was into a controlling tyrant. Can't see her family, friends or choose what clothes she can wear, etc. If only she had talked to his ex-wife or ex-girlfriends! But of course he would never let her near them.
A good thing to do would be to listen to others who the WTS "courted". See what happened after they tied the knot with the Organization. Is it the same after baptism as it appears before? NO!
She will never get to hear what will happened to her later if she doesn't listen now.

If you want to save your sister from making a critical mistake- follow their advice and read and inform yourself in what they suggested. We are here as a support to you in your quest to save your sister from wasting her life. Or her childs life for that matter. Welcome to the board and welcome to freedom of mind

Is your sister aware that if she becomes a JW and her son needs a blood transfusion, she must refuse the procedure and let him die?
The Study Conductor has probably already warned your sister that her friends and family will be opposed to her studying and becoming a JW. Kind of a little mind trick to make your sister think that Satan is working to keep her from learning the truth and becoming a JW.

It's always empowering when a person comes to their own right conclusion.
A new poster on JWN yesterday posted that out of despair she typed in the words "lonely and disfellowshipped". That took her to many of the sites mentioned. Now she is taking her first steps into a life of freedom from a cult.
You could suggest to your sister to google "birthdays and JW's".

Send her to jwfacts.com and review it yourself. They only reference what the WatchTower teachs, has taught, changes and flip flops. It's an eye opener.
The sanction on blood is another big problem she needs to understand. There could have been as many as a quarter of a million needless deaths since 1945, men, women and children because they made up a silly doctrine.
And learn about their pedophilia problem and law suits. How they don't protect the witness children who are easy prey.
