WTB&TS propaganda success

    You do have to hand it to the WTB&TS for their propaganda success , I remember vaguely an Awake ? or a Watchtower ? article on Germanys propaganda campaign during world war two in which they acknowedged their success in acheiving their goals .I can not be specific when this article appeared maybe in the 60`s or 70`s or possibly the 80`s I just cant remember , however I lean towards the 60`s or 70`s

    And the gist of that article was from the german propagandist machine ..went something like this .." If you say something long enough ,loud enough ,over and over again, no matter how great the lie is, people will eventually beleive it" and I`m not sure it may have been Goerrings statement

    So what is the point of this post ? Aren`t the WTB&TS guilty of the same tactics ? of course with variations due to different times.

    Of course the Nazi regime didnt last long ,but I think the Watchtower has adopted their tactics, with their doctrines and practices

    I very much agree. In fact, I think they have perfected it some. Subtly introducing an idea (such as new F&DS) with off-handed comments that hint at it but not out-and-out express it. By the time it becomes official, the R&F think that they knew that that was the case all along.

    This is the most popular forged quotation. The full version:

    “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

    Last I checked (December 2011), this shows up on 500,000 web pages and twenty published books (most of which are vanity press productions, evidence for the value of publishers who still believe in editors). It is attributed to Joseph Goebbels. No one ever gives a citation to the source. A fair number of web citations are to “Joseph M. Goebbels.” That wasn't his middle initial. One book credits it to “Joseph Goebbel.”

    There are several hundred pages in German that cite the statement, but none give a source, and one site (perhaps the earliest) notes that is “retranslated from English.”

    The Awake! of June 2000 contained a series of three articles on propaganda. These articles should be on the “MUST READ” list of every JW and ex-JW:

    They are actually very well written. Ironicall, if you take the time to read these articles you will come to have a good working knowledge of propaganda: what it is and the typical tools and techniques of propagandist.

    Then, after you have read how well the Awake! writers understand the tools of propaganda and you see how well they use them, you will realize that there is only one reasonable, logical conclusion: the deceptions of the WTBTS Leaders are both willful and deliberate.

    It's chilling to realize this. I don't think I fully understood till I started reading the transcript from the Conti trial. By the end of the first day, it was clear: they will say or do anything, anything, to further their agenda.
