People going door to door uninvited should be required to get a licence and sercurity check if they are going door to door and required to show it on demand while engaged in the door to door work.

After all it is a perfect stranger for the most part who could be an imposter or maybe even a violent criminal or rapist. No one convicted of sexual molestation or violent crimes should be given a permit. An added benifit would be less people knocking on your door trying to sell you something be it a vaacum cleaner or armegeddon life insurance protection.

    What is your opinon?

I agree. Door to door salepeople are basically entering a persons private area. A prescreening would be good.

I do believe that in the US, religious people are not subject to the same laws and this has been established legally.

This will be a hard thing to enforce. In our community, a person who is found guilty in the courts usually gets the option to choose a comunity service, i.e. canvasing fot the blind, or some other Charity. You just know that the person knocking on your door, is somehow trying to avoid a harder judgement. It also makes us judge the person. I can see this as a hindrance to that rule, but I would like to see some ID

Luckily, Supreme Court rulings are not writ in stone.

I think a law like this would be welcome by all concerned citizens because it cuts down on people knocking on your door interupting your daily routine trying to sell you something be it armegeddon insurance or vaacum cleaners.

And also since we are talking about religious freedom what about the house holders religious freedom to demand that no religious canvassers call on them? And an imposed fine for disreguarding a house holder right to forbid religious canvassers knocking on their doors trying to sell them religion?

!!!!!!! Also, mandatory working with children cards/background checks. Anyone, JW or otherwise, who refuses to comply, would face prosecution for going D2D. They can write letters...

In the suburbs of Chicago( Brookfield, La Grange) we had to stop at the police station and sign in right befre we started knocking on door,

that was in the 70's and 80's.

Many people would complain and call in the station but the cops could not stop us from preaching.
