A Positive Comment About The Witnesses

My mom is 87, in a few weeks. She's been ill for many years. She's been in the hospital in the last week and is now in rehab.

I must say her JW support system is very good. They watch out for her, regularly visit her and genuinely do care about her.

I don't say too many positive things about the Witnesses, but they have come a long way in their treatment of the elderly and infirm.

It is, Cognac. They regularly bring her to doctor's appointments and check in on her by phone or visit.

That's good to hear. Some witnesses I know do take care to visit the elderly.

Yes, I think the Society has pushed this program for several years now. I think it makes them feel noteworthy.

So when are you going back, minimus. And why are the jws taking care of your mum and not you, her loving son? Perhaps you are funding their efforts for her. I know you are merely inactive, not df'd or da'd; so that is not an issue. I know you care about your mother and I think you are just poking around a bit.

Any way many a pedophile is known for being a great citizen and taking care of family.

I know of more older jws that are ignored by jws in their family and congregation, even jws expecting the non-jw family to be responsible for care whether the family do it or not.

When discussing what material provisions should be made for elderly widows in the congregation, the apostle Paul wrote: “If anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.” Paul reminded fellow Christians that if their course of action was to be “acceptable in God’s sight,” they must care financially for their own aged parents and grandparents. (1 Tim. 5:4, 8) However, others in the congregation can and should provide practical assistance

Glad your Mom is being looked after by her JW friends.

Lots of churches have great support systems for not only the elderly but day care, summer camp, personal counseling, financial aid, scholarships etc. They don't typically go around bragging that this proves they are the only true religion and that everyone who doesn't become one of the is going to be killed by God.
