I don't say too many positive things about the Witnesses,

but they have come a long way in their treatment of the elderly and infirm.

Thats because we want your Moms Money..

House,Jewelery Ect..ect..

Not for my 89 yr JW mother.......they kicked her to the curb after 58 yrs. Very sad ! There was one lady that would take her to the store every week, but her JW husband did not like it. He went to the elders and complained....it was too hard on his wife... because she was old too. The lady wanted to help my mom. and wanted to get away from her contolling husband........besides my mom would give her20 $ that she could hide from her hubby. When my sis and I went down for a visit ( we live 1200 miles away ) The elders met with us to let us know the lady could not help my mom. THEY could not help because she has family ....... WHAT !!!! yes they would not ask anyone to help her. If someone saw she was in need they could help of course........but they would not ask anyone because she has FAMILY....Well no one wanted to help !!!!! The worldly neighbor widow next door loves my mom....and did things to help her......The elders liked that and tried to encorage my mom to let her do more for her.

My mom did not want the neighbor ( shes worldly ) to take her to the doctor or shopping ! My mom was bainwashed all her life not to trust people of the world.

Being the smart ass I am.....I said to the elders " You know at this point in my mothers life, she would be better off if she was never a JW,so she would be open to being helped by the nice neighbor !!!! "

e the JW lady that was helping my mom, is now helping another JW lady.........

We did get my mom away from those crazy JW people.......sold her house and brought her up north.....she has a nice apartment

Minimus-- I think that is really great, but I also think your mom is very much an exception and minority to what usually goes on in the JW faith.

On a humorous note, my Pentecostal sister is SO upset because my JW sister has local people taking my 88 year old step mom (who is deaf & has severe dementia) to the KH on Sundays. I told my sister that I thought it was GREAT that my step mom was being socialized on a regular basis. Since she is barely even coherent, it's not likely she's going to be converted any time soon. LOL

Didnt the rapper Xzibit have a little twitter rage about how the JWs did not take care of his dad? I think it all depends on the people in the congregation. I know the congo. I was raised in was always good about helping the elderly and disabled. I know of other congos. that were terrible.

My dead Aunt left us money. She wasn't a witness. For some odd reason only us partaking of the table of demons went to see her and cared for her while she was alive. I lived two hours away. My jw sisters lived two miles. In 8 years they never visited once. When she died they were first in line to collect. Fuck jw charity.

JW are no better than people in the world. They say they are a worldwide brotherhood.....That is a big LIE. Because my mom out lived her friends and her congergation split a few times, she fell between the cracks. The young elders just wanted her gone.....If she had no family they would have stuck her in some home to rot.........Good thing she has 2 worldly human apostate daughters to rescue her.

In fact the JW husband called me on the phone to threaten me.....with putting my mom in a home. Never met such a mean evil person in my life !

One thing I have to honestly say about the Dubs is when my mother was in the hospital and nursing home she did get many visitors from the KH, she wasn't forgotten. i think that's the only positive thing I can say about those cult followers.

Minimus, I am happy for your mom. Sorry about my rant but.......this is something that makes me a little crazy... I would have never believed this could happen to my mom.........but it did....and I have more stories about the last days my mom spent in her home, and the bad behavior of the JW.

It is totally situational and some of the factors have been mentioned above.

Your anecdotal situation sounds positive but I do not think it is typical.

Let's have no more equivocation about wether or not JW's in general are self centered cold hearted judgemental jerks waiting for God to kill everyone that is not in the club.

JW to spouse - "Oh my! Did you hear that bro and sister irregular were killed in an auto accident?"

spouse - "oh dear! That is so sad"

JW - "Well, they have been missing meetings lately and Brother Elder told me they were struggling with oral sex"

spouse - "Oh. F'um then. What's on TV tonight?"
