Yet, we encourage Teenagers, even Preteens to get Baptized

When I was in i was friends with a married couple. The wife had been raised in it, and had a gay brother who never took to it at all, always was a rebel, and he never got baptized. So, as an adult, he was able to have full (if at some times, strained) contact with his family with no elders hounding and threatening them about shunning him.

Contrast that to another local situation where this kid that was BOY GEORGE OBVIOUS gay gets baptized when he was like 12 or 13 like so many do, then surprise surprise a few years down the road as a young adult he comes out, and is promptly DF'd. So, because he was baptized, he's shunned for life.

    Nuts! Just absolutely nuts!

Truth seeker 674. You may want to rethink your judgemental tone. I think I know where you might have picked it up from. There are a variety of reasons people are at various stages of exodus or remain "in". Who are you to judge another persons motived or reasons? I can understand Eden's points, and the desire to live an authentic existance. Maybe he will take a step further in that direction, maybe he won't. Best to try to allow others to live their lives, and offer the support you are able.

So anything you feel like contributing to the thread, or did you just want to take a veiled swipe at on of your fellow board members.

JJ, I think we are all ashamed of more than one thing from our time in service to the WT, while thinking it was service to God. I truely believe, the past can only affect you if you continue to allow its impact to be ongoing. Make amends (where possible), for any wrong you have done to someone in the past, and lead a life of authenticity and integrity going forward from this time on. I am pretty sure God would approve of those actions no matter what.

I am not in a good kind mood now...so forgive me...but once u become an elder and have the shepherd hand book, and are using it in place of the bible, the red flags were flashings and they were ignored! Especially when someone said: show me in the Bible the point u r trying to make. Was your replied the WT Article says this..? If so, then YOU CONSTITUTED YOUESELF an enemy of God! You can try and excuse your actions for following orders...but u should of known better...that's why u chose to be in that position, because u said u did. The word of god says u are more accountable in the position you strived for.

But hey you were brain washed, under mind control RIGHT? So try and right the wrongs that u committed and maybe all will go well with u! If u can, if not move on an correct your viewpoint. I know I have to!

Many here share responsibablity for misleading people or judging others wrongly! Lets learn from our mistakes!

    From the OP:

When I first was appointed as an Elder, I could not wait to be on a Judicial Committee.

    Why?

I DFed way to many...attended about 200 JC meetings I estimate...We had only 3-4 elders for several years and lots and lots of hanky panky going on...

I had the tears, the fears, the backlash from the family, had many hate me bc of it, even though I was just "doing my job". Totally thought it was a loving arrangement from Gee-hovah blah blah blah I look back on it and am disgusted like the rest of you.

Welcome James Jackson you are among friends!

    .

It has to stop and someday bc of all our efforts it may. Either way, more and more are waking up. I just had a sister email her recorded JC where she faced a 3 man firing squad and asked me to put it up on my JWStruggle YouTube channel...gonna be a lot of work as the accents are hard for me to figure out (Sorry they are lol!) but it is gonna be a good one I think once I make all the many subtitles.

    Judge away, TruthSeeker 674 ...

It's easy to pass judgements on others without knowing their circumstances.

And, btw, there is no "accurate knowlege about TTATT" ... there is accurate knowledge about the truth. Period.

I was on to many of those committees. After I learned the TATT I worked hard to stay off committees and worked harder to step down as a elder. Even worked harder to get out completly. Now I know everyone has diffrent problem concerning this but one day you may find yourself back up into a corner with no way out. I feel sorry for you for what you must be going through. Been there done that. Take care of yourself. Totally ADD

For all elders here trying to step down: try to collect information on the JC's you have especially regards children or when certain people have been treated differently because they were some elders' family. I used it as a tool to keep them from DF'ing me because I threatened to leak their dirty laundry.

Welcome James Jackson...Thanks for your honest post! I am definitely not one to judge. Look forward to more of your experiences as an Elder. I think it's a good thing for Lurkers to read the thoughts of all these former "Gifts in Men".

I respect all of you, even if you were at one time a gung-ho Elder.
