I've seen this video before...well worth a watch. AND very true.
Rich people don't create jobs

Conspicuous consumption keeps people poor. The rich convince us that we should desire the same lifestyle that they have. We work real hard for
companies that they own, purchase goods from stores they own hoping to be like them someday. All we do is wear ourselves out making them
wealthier.

They filthy rich are creating LOTS of jobs ....
Our Hershey plant moved to Mexico a few years ago - JOBS CREATED!
That's just one example, of course. Unfortunately, the jobs are not for Canadians... after all, we need a certain amount of bux to pay $1,000/month for a one-bedroom apt, fuel to heat our homes, etc... and there are laws here for minimum wage ... so the rich NEED to save that valuable money so they can have 12,000 sq. ft. homes, and gold fawcets for their taps, etc.

Meg Whitman created jobs for her illegal immigrant (undocumented workers) workers and out of the kindness of her heart, before running for office, she paid them their back-pay and wages owed! Often many of the Republican candidates have a change of heart before deciding to run for office and pay their undocumented workers the Federal Minimum wage.
The Rich are so kind, they create many jobs for anyone willing to work below the Federal and State minimum wages!

I have never been offered a job by a poor person. I've been self employed for 14 years now. Most of my clients are "rich" people. I have made a really good living providing a sevice to "rich" people. In turn, I buy stuff at places that employ people. This is how the world works. The less money I have the less I spend. The less I spend the fewer people will be employed. it's pretty simple to understnd. Many of the richest people own companies that employ people. The wealthy people buy things... expensive things. If there were no wealthy (rich) people, I imagine the world would suck more than it does now.
Simon: Someday, when I'm a billionaire, I'm going to buy Canada and use it to store all my useless junk I'm going to own and never use. I will still let you live there... Just don't touch my stuff.

Adam Believed, a thousand middle class people with say an extra $1,000 a year will together spend a lot more than a single rich person with $1,000,000 extra. The person making this point in the video is himself rich. More equal distribution would help the economy, rich and poor alike.

Once the wealthy 1% have accumulated ALL the money in the world..(which they are rapidly doing). Then what? How can anyone earn anything if they have it all hoarded away making even more money and interest?
No matter how hard anyone works, there will only be so much money left to go round. Being rich creates nothing for anyone but themselves.
Demand creates jobs. Need for goods and services create jobs. Wealthy people hoarding money creates poverty for everyone else.

Slim: I get what he is saying. I just don't agree because it's idealistic and stupid. The idea of "equal distribution" of wealth is WRONG and a fairy tale. If life was a math problem then yes, his theory may be a truth. But it's not. If there was an equal distrabution of wealth, no one would work that hard to attain anything. The economay would collapse because everyone would be depending on the other person to pick up the slack.
Example http://www.sodahead.com/fun/is-this-man-a-genius/question-2060113/?link=ibaf&q=&esrc=s
"An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed".
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. -

We are talking about more equal distribution, not absolutely equal distribution.
There comes a point when inequality reaches a level that it no longer prompts ambition but creates a chasm between different segments of society. We are well past the point where the level of inequality is counterproductive.

"We are talking about more equal distribution, not absolutely equal distribution". Oh well... why didn't you say so. That changes everything! What a waste of effort this has been. I'm done with this pointless thread. I need to get back to work. I'm trying to be in the 1%. I'll never get there wasting my time like this.
