Why do you blame Jehovah's Witnesses for false predictions ?

When you read the pseudapigraphical 2nd Peter chapter 3 and other NT writings about the parousia and how close it is, or why it hasn't happened yet, why is it a surprise that the WT/JW's get it wrong all the time ?

If those early Chrisitian writers could make totally false claims, and yet their words are supposed to be "inspired of God", why is it so wrong that the WT/JW's do the same ?

Cut 'em some slack fellers, the WT may be false prophets, over and over, but they are in good company.

Indeed, I've heard some pretty bold claims from JWs about the end being near, but I've never heard one claim that Armageddon would come within the next 60 minutes! (See 1 John 2:18)

It's all down to the meaning of "soon".

It's ok getting wrong but when they say "agree with us or die" that's when my bum squeeks.

I read a very interesting article on the Parousia and the real meaning. Not what I thought at all. Quite the opposite.

    False expectations began with Jesus.

Its interesting to see bible writers handle the obvious disapointment. "There is nothing new under the sun".

Here is my article on the parousia.

    Good question Phizzy.

Religions have a propensity to spout crap.

However, in this case the JWs (and other religions?), threaten death and shunning if you disagree with them. That's my gripe. the WBT$ claims to be the only true religion and their rules are proof that they are a cult.

    I'm all about cult busting.

Too many shattered lives fall in the wake of this corporation.

Promoting false prophecies and hopelessly flawed end-times dates is not wrong. The important thing is that WT is sincere when doing it:

"...The increasing light on God's Word as well as the facts of history have repeatedly required that adjustments of one kind or another be made down to the very present time. But let us never forget that the motives of this "slave" were always pure, unselfish; at all times it has been well-meaning. " (The Watchtower; March 1, 1979; p. 24)

"well meaning" = sorry you based your entire life on a lie and shelved your hopes and happiness for a future world that is not real. Oops!

At least we (WT) were sincere when we lied to you.

    Feel better now?

Hello there Phizzy I don't claim and can't claim to be a scholar and all that but

The only company the WTS has is Hananiah the false prophet, and he was destroyed

    for his falsehood

The WTS can't show no where in the bible where the Apostles

    taught anything wrong

In Luke 19:11 the apostles only imagined that the Kingdom would appear right before them

Jesus was in their presence at this time. What kinda man would Jesus be to let his followers

go off wit' the wrong teachin' ?

In Acts 1:8 Jesus was in thier presence, when his followers ask about the kingdom

And once again, Jesus did not let them go off wit' the wrong information

The WTS tries to lead folks to think that Nathan was a false prophet that was spared by God

you can find this on page 134 in the WTS's Reasoning book under False prophets

Nathan was not a false prophet. Nathan only gave his opinion to King David

he did not claim it was from Jehovah, And God sent an angel to correct nathan's

thinkin' that very night. Not decades later like the WTS

The WTS claim that everything they teach come straight from Jehovah

" Thus what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah " _____Sept 15, 2010 wt para. 8 page 13

.Gotta admit that I missed that quote.

I showed a friend the 1971/1972(?) WT where they claim to be God's modern-day Ezekiel Class prophet.

She says, "but that's over 40 years ago, they don't say that NOW".

WTH? That was just prior to the False Prophecy of 1975.

She says, "but that's over 40 years ago, they don't say that NOW".

I had this conversation with a relative. Then I say that if it was from god why did he change his mind? Then you get all the circular reasoning that goes nowhere.

Their prime directive is to attribute no bad to the WBT$. Anything that endangers the WBT$ credibility must be from self or satan................but never it's paedophile loving leaders.
