Caleb Mom thinking while startled from her son's outrageous request for nurishment without the magic word 'Please':
O My God, my son is turning into a demanding little brat that doesn't say please or thank you. I'd better do something quick or else he's bird food at armageddon {gasp}.
She then opens her bible to look for a scripture that shows Jehovah getting depressed(sad) because people forgot to say please and thank you while eating a banquet of Quail after Jehovah answered their request for meat without the magic word please:
Nubers 11:33
While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of Jehovah was kindled against the people, and Jehovah smote the people with a very great plague.
I think the WT's next video should be about Caleb's mom, with the lesson titled:
"Mom's Amphetamine Habit Makes Jehovah Sad- But Helps Her Cope With Being A JW"
Hmm. I do have issues getting my daughter to show good manners, and after awhile it does become irritating when a child speaks to you in a way that is, frankly, rude. But there's no context to Caleb's mother's reaction, which in itself strongly suggests that she was really angry about something else or stressed from other events. Because a generally calm person would not react that way on a child's showing poor manners alone. But from the other videos, it seems like she's got some real emotional problems herself and may need therapy and/or medication. I don't say that to insult her--as she's not even a real person TO insult--just from observation.
But it's kind of weird that the voice of the dad is narrating when presumably he should actually, you know, be there in the scene instead. Elders' meeting? Elders' meeting.
But the part where he says "Even Jehovah says please" would have been a great time to include an actual scriptural example of that. Genesis 13:14 is an example: "And Jehovah said to Abram after Lot had separated from him: "Raise your eyes, please, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward". See? There's a please in there.
"At district conventions, attendants hold up signs that say "Please Be Seated". Are we not thankful that such kindness is shown even to disobedient ones who have failed to return to their seats promptly for the convention program?" [Applause]

"You see, Caleb? Jehovah got very, very sad with the Israelites. And he murdered them. Thousands of them. Over quail." [crazy eyes [O] [O]] "So what do you think he will do to you over the BEST SANDWICH EVER???!!"
"Please, Mom--don't hurt me! I'll do anything!"
"I don't want you to do anything, Caleb. I want you to obey..."

Is it just me, or do all these videos start off with Caleb playing and acting like a happy, well-adjusted kid, only to have a run in with his mom where he then ends up looking shamed, guilty and upset? That's some fine parenting - guilt and shame that joy for life out of your child, Jehovah commands it!
Caleb should thank Jehovah? What the hell for?! He didn't buy the groceries, he didn't make the sandwich after Caleb had to grovel and beg for it. He did diddly-shit, he doesn't deserve any thanks.
So a kid can't run into the kitchen like an excited kid, a normal, energetic kid: he has to be like a good little adult and walk in and like a good little dog he has to beg.
Ps love the Ricardo Montalban. However, a well constructed kids' narrative shouldn't need a voice over!
Judging by her reaction, you would have thought he'd come in shouting, "Hey b!tch, make me a sammich right now and don't give me any lip or I'll beat the **** out of you!"
Evidently, Mom doesn't have a regular meal schedule worked out for the family. I know my mom wouldn't make me a sandwich between meals. She would have told me to grab an apple out of the fridge so I don't spoil my dinner.
Although I agree that it's important to teach manners, including "please" and "thank you", there are better ways than this goofy example where the kid is begging for food. I learned by example from my parents behavior toward each other and using good manners toward me. Frankly, good manners weren't invented by JWs, and their "even Jehovah says please" is goofy. Evidently, very soon now, Jehovah is going to tell all the people that aren't worshipping the GB, "Please die! ... Thank You!"
too bad caleb will never get to use those pro level soccor skills.
