    Sir82 – Duly noted.

NWT by Fred Franz? Was he a linguistic scholar? How did he accomplish this? Did he have actual scholars’ help? Anyone know?

OneEyedJack – Thanks for the insight.

IMHO translators not knowing Hebrew or Greek benefits the WT. It makes it almost impossible for translators to cross reference their work against the originals and easier for the WT to make subtle changes.

Oh and one more thing I didn't realize that the manual was so detailed. It just a shame they couldn't be more scrupulous when it came to chiled sex abuse. Oh sorry I hope I didn't stumble anybody. Hehe.

Wow nice job, notgoinback! I'm pretty sure i remember seeing these lying around the library in bethel but never had the time to look through it.

any chance you can upload the "Dwelling Together in Unity (2005)" book? i meant to scan it when i was in too, but didnt have a scanner. the older versions are available on the net, but i cant find the 2005 version.

actually, now that i opened the file, i seem to recall reading it but the small font size and the crapload of text made me lose interest.

    here's a doozy (p.18):

"15. On completing the assignment the speaker will fill out the form (S-37) and turn it in. The branch will pay only the round-trip fare of the speaker on these appointments. Often the congregations reimburse the speaker for his carfare or are pleased to help with the cost of transportation. If the speaker is married and his wife travels with him, she must pay her own fare as it is not covered by the branch. If a brother uses his own automobile for transportation, then he may be reimbursed at the same amount per mile or kilometer for gasoline as is given for circuit overseers in your country. (See 4:74) If the congregation does not supply meals, the speaker may be reimbursed for this expense also."

i felt the difference in age requirements for men and women were unfair (p.21):

"47. Sisters under the age of 30 are allowed to take two Saturdays off during each full calendar month of service. Sisters from the ages of 30 to 40 are granted three Saturdays off. Sisters 40 years of age and older may take all Saturdays off."

    p.25:

"Brothers who are 70 years of age and older and sisters 50 and older may return to their rooms before the Bethel workday officially ends, if they feel it necessary. Or they may prefer to take this rest after the noon meal before returning to work..."

always felt this was unfair (p.18):

"One who is a Bethel elder would not usually be removed unless guilty of serious misconduct. Older brothers who are elders may not be able to speak as well and do as much in the field service as some of the younger brothers, but there is no reason to remove them if they do qualify Scripturally and their judgment is good."

i know at least one bethel elder who was so mean to new bethelites, and a very controlling person, but because he was in his 70's/80's and even had a lifestory printed in the mags, nobody wanted to remove his stupid title, so whenever we would complain about him, the overseers would basically just say "we know" and shrug it off. what a "loving" arrangement!

    This whole document is scary.

I thought I was reading some Scientology rule book.

The "workers" take a vow of poverty ?

and celibacy ? And they belong to a special "World Order"?

The language is right out of the Da Vinci Code.

No knowledge of Greek or Hebrew required for translators?

This is worse than the Catholic Church in its darkest hour.

Absolutely astounding. Should be required reading for every

witness who has any lingering thoughts that the WT has any

connection to God or truth. Nothing sets you free like the pure

unmasked view of this organization at its core.

    Any Bethelites out there ?

Please, find these secret rule books and post them.

You will be doing such a great service for so many.

Another thing that was so apparent is the entire lack of concern for

anything remotely related to Christian works that would actually help

people suffering or in need anywhere in the world. I know you guys

get irritated when I mention it yet again, but really ? Jesus said his

followers would feed the hungry, clothe the naked, comfort the sick

and lonely, Matthew 25: 31-46 32 All the nations will be gathered before him,

and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates

    the sheep from the goats.

33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

    34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father;

take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me

something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,

I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

NOWHERE does it say " You published magazines "

The manual is so detailed, I wonder how the apostles managed in Jesus' day.

It is obvious that being considered a pioneer means everything to some JWs -

...."Just because a person is old is no reason to put him on the infirm list. If an older pioneer who develops health problems is willing to transfer to the publisher ranks, there is no need to encourage the individual to become an infirm pioneer. Rather, the infirm list is a provision only for those who desire to remain on the pioneer list, feeling they would be taking a backward step if they adjusted to the publisher ranks, or who have had a heartfelt desire to serve always as regular pioneers."
