    Very succinctly put Oubliette.

Your explanation should make the GB hang their heads in shame but as with Israel the leaders of the JW's are proud & stiff necked.

So why is there no fuss about JWs being registered as a charity in Britain, a country they believe is signified by a beast in Revelation?

Slimboyfat said:'..but has it ever been proved?' "THE preamble to the United Nations Charter expresses these noble aims: We the peoples of the United Nations determined tosave succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, . . . and [desiring] to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, .. . have resolved to combine our efforts to accomplish these aims. Did the UN accomplish these aims? Did it get the nations to unite their strength and maintainpeace and security? No, not so far, although the UN has sincerely tried to be a significantly better way than the League of Nations. Jehovahs Witnesses firmly believe that the United Nations is going to play a major role in world events in the very near future. No doubt these developments will be very exciting. And the results will have a far-reaching impact on your life. We urge you to ask Jehovahs Witnesses in your neighborhood for more details on this matter. The Bible clearly paints a picture showing that theUnited Nations will very shortly be given power and authority. The UN will then do some very astonishing things that may well amaze you. And you will be thrilled to learn that there is yet a better way near at hand that will surely bring eternal peace and security!" Awake!1991 Sep 8 p.10 "WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED to save succeeding generations from thescourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, . . .Preamble to the charter of the United Nations. OCTOBER 24, 1995, marks the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. All 185 current member States are committed to the organizations original principles and goals as expressed in that charter: to maintain internationalpeace and security; to suppress acts of aggression that threaten world peace; to encourage friendly relations among nations; to protect the fundamental freedoms of all peoples without discrimination based on race, sex, language, or religion; and to achieve international cooperation in solving economic, social, and cultural problems. For 50 years the United Nations organization has made notable efforts to bring about world peace and security. Arguably, it may have prevented a third world war, and the wholesale destruction of human life through the use of nuclear bombs has not been repeated. The United Nations has provided millions of children with food and medicine. It has contributed to improved health standards in many countries, providing, among other things, safer drinking water and immunization against dangerousdiseases. Millions of refugees have received humanitarian assistance. In recognition of its accomplishments, the United Nations organization has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize five times. Yet, the lamentable fact of life is that we still do not live ina world without war. In Bible prophecy, human governments are often symbolized by wild beasts. (Daniel 7:6, 12, 23; 8:20-22) Hence, for many decades the Watchtower magazine has identified the wild beasts of Revelation chapters 13 and 17 with todays worldly governments. This includes the United Nations, which is depictedin Revelation chapter 17 as a scarlet-colored beast with seven heads and ten horns. However, this Scriptural position does not condone any form of disrespect toward governments or their officials. The Bible clearly states: Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves. Romans 13:1, 2. Accordingly, Jehovahs Witnesses, who are maintaining strict political neutrality, do not interfere with human governments. They never foment revolution or participate in acts of civil disobedience. Rather, theyrecognize that some form of government is necessary to maintain law and order in humansociety.Romans 13:1-7; Titus 3:1. Jehovahs Witnesses view the United Nations organization as they do other governmental bodies of the world. They acknowledge that the United Nations continues to exist by Gods permission. In harmony with the Bible, Jehovahs Witnesses render due respect to all governments and obey them as long as such obedience does not require that they sin against God. Acts 5:29" Watchtower1995 Oct 1 pp.3,7 TheAwake!2000 December 8 devoted a number of pages to discussing the fine efforts of the United Nations. TheAwake!1998November 22 also devoted several pages to discussion of the United Nations, including praising the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "In 2001, the Awake of July 22 discusses the benefits of volunteering for the United Nations and their need for more volunteers. The turnaround in Watchtower discussion on the United Nations during the 1990s conveniently coincides with the UN application requirement for affiliated NGOs to publicly support their Charter." http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/united-nations-association.php

Has it ever been proved that the positive UN articles that appeared in the Awake! in the 1990s were written specifically so JWs could qualify as an affiliated non-governmental organisation at the UN?

SBF: Has it ever been proved that the positive UN articles that appeared in the Awake! in the 1990s were written specifically so JWs could qualify as an affiliated non-governmental organisation at the UN?

There have been several threads here on JWN that listed many articles that were extremely favorable of the UN. You might try doing a search and see what you could find.

A couple of years ago, I looked up many of the articles on the old WT website, but the "New Light" jw.org curiously does NOT have WT or Awake! articles prior to 2000. I wonder why?

As far as proving they were " written specifically so JWs could qualify as an affiliated non-governmental organisation at the UN," how could you ever prove such a thing? That would require an admission of intent by someone on the Writing Committee.

Were they submitted to the UN as proof of their compliance with the terms of their association with the UN? If so there may be some sort of documentary trail at the UN.

The application form required an annual report of activities related to the UN.

Page 3 requested a list of any UN related magazines issues, with samples.

I am unaware of anyone being able to obtain the actual submission that the UN received, and it is highly unlikely that it ever could be obtained, but the requirements are clear enough.

Were they submitted to the UN as prove of...?

Take a look at this http://www.freedom4all.net/A%20Long%20Job%20Finished%20-%20OW%20-%20VN.pdf

Notice the 2nd article A “Long Job Finished”

It was on the UN website, but is now removed.

How would it get there if it wasn't submitted?
And if it was not favorable to the UN....why would they put it as a reverence on their own UN site?
