Deception by Omission - The Good News

Perhaps one of the strongest ways to deceive someone is to repeat only one feature of a particular issue over and over and to never to explore the other facets of the same issue. This is called misdirection.

The watchtower has done this with the issue THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM. Mt. 24:14 was repeated into my head thousands of times while growing up as if it was THE ONLY good news (gospel). But was it the CHIEF message of the early church? I was shocked to learn about the other facets of the "Gospel" when I started reading the bible on my own. Just look at all these OTHER facets of the "good news" that was hidden from us by being omitted from WT indoctrination.

the gospel of Jesus Christ - Mark 1:1

the gospel of the grace of God. - Acts 20:24

my gospel …the preaching of Jesus Christ - Romans 16:25

the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: - 2 Thessalonians 1:8

our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, … the gospel - 2 Timothy 1:10

It should be obvious what the good news is by now. And it ain't the message of a bunch of old self-centered men who imagine that God has given them the rulership of the earth. Which is all their version of "The Good News of the Kingdom" amounts to.

Exactly my observation and experience Perry.

They have truncated the gospel so badly that it has little chance of breaking their spell over their followers.

    Salvation (from death) - missing.

    Deliverance/liberation (from bondage) - missing.

    Reconciliation (from enmity) - missing.

Jesus' birth, death, burial, resurrection and ascension - all missing.

    Imputed righteousness - missing.

    Imputed cleanness - missing.

    Imputed sinlessness - missing.

    Imputed sonship - missing.

    And so on...

One of my favourite questions for a "Watchtower's Witness":

“Can I claim to be ‘in the truth’ or to ‘love the truth’ if the ‘Good News’ according to Paul, Isaiah, Psalms and Moses is not in my heart or on my lips?”
    (2 Cor 3:16; 4:4; Gal 2:5,14; Eph 1:13; 6:14,15; Col 1:5,6)

I find myself agreeing with Perry and Fernando - I feel a bit discombobulated.

It's true that the gospel that was preached by the early church was about forgiveness through the death and resurrection of Jesus. It had nothing at all to do with "signs of the times".

Anybody who wants to do a bit more research could google the word kerygyma..

I need to go and lie down now.

I like the gospel about god starving little kids because they are not born again in his son and are enemies. That's my personal favorite gospel. Glad tidings all.

Could it be that it is us humans who permit evil, and not God, since he has already provided a detailed solution and blueprint, namely the unabridged gospel, which we have largely ignored for thousands of years?

Perry i am the good news " New Hope and Happiness"...because thats the only " good news" as we walk our own particulr paths each searching for our own dream.

Its a shame jesus lasts words were " why have you forsaken me" sounds like he was saying " why me?" " Why now!?" and that his Hope and Happiness were an illusion.

Also, the final instructions Jesus gave about preaching was given AFTER he was resurrected. It bears little resemblance to WT literature:

    Acts 10

39 - And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick (the living) and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

No Fernando that is just meaningless theological mumbo-jumbo.

Back in the real world human suffering continues as it has done for 200 000 years.

Are you really proposing that god has passively watched the horror show for 198 000 years before sending Jesus to deliver some vague platitudes and get himself killed?

People can be evil. But, as Perry said, even little children in Africa can be enemies of Jesus.
