mP: Can you explain how all Jewish holidays are counterparts for pagan ones and always fall on the same days, namely the equinoxes and solstices. Just look at the top 5, Passover, Day of Atonement, etc.
mP: Given you can’t give a straight answer to any question from me and others, I guess you are a perfect fit for the devil creature that you and your fellow believers have created in your minds. Good old Christians, they claim to tell the truth, but when you actually check, they are all liars.
What do you expect him to say, mP? Who knows why all the Jewish holidays fall on the days they do? The fact is, most world cultures have holidays that fall on significant dates like the equinoxes and solstices. The Hebrew scriptures state that the human race began with prophets and a knowledge of God and then degraded into degenerate groups of people who became so sinful that they were destroyed by God. Throughout history, things continued pretty much along those lines; however, God never destroyed a nation or a people without first warning them through prophets. And yes, Christians believe that Satan was often at the heart at deceiving those nations. These were people who murdered their children and their parents, who worshiped malignant, malicious gods who degraded the poor and hungry in order to get power and gain.
Now you come along, after the fact, and without any detailed knowledge of these societies and, citing only those things you’ve found in anti-Christian books and websites, do everything you can to twist and attack peoples’ beliefs according to your own predilections. You never say, “I believe there is no God,” or “I think people who believe in Satan are deceiving themselves.” Instead, you come in making base accusations and rubber stamping their beliefs, fresh from watching Bill Mayer and Christopher Hitchens on YouTube.
Don’t get me wrong, you’re entitled to your beliefs, and many of your comments show some genuine reflection on various issues and I often agree with you. But sometimes something just sets you off and you resort to snap judgments without knowing cultures, religious practices, politics or historical backgrounds. In short, you don’t seem to have researched the other side.
I believe in the Devil, that he exists and that he has an interest in deceiving and misleading mankind. I’m no babbling Pentecostal with mystical stories to relate every week, but I’ve had a couple of experiences in my life that convince me unconditionally that there’s a supernatural force for evil, just as I’m certain that the power of the Spirit of God can nurture man’s knowledge and power. But this knowledge is non-transferrable and if it’s challenged, it should at least be with some respect.
