What course are you on?

Reading Julia's comment about how she and her husband have become the epitome of evil (LOL) moved me to post. I have several family members and close friends that have faded or simply walked away. Each of them has chosen a different course. Some have embraced a more "liberal" lifestyle with its accompanying "partying" and such. Kinda like they wanted to make up for the "lost time" they experienced in their youth.

Others have continued in the spiritual journey looking for God in some other place than the KH, embracing another set of rigid rules and hoping for a different experience.

Others, like the Orwells, have chosen to just enjoy life while apparently maintaining a measure of, I don't know, a modicum of decorum.

Whatever the case, we all choose our own paths after the departure. I, for one, am transitioning from the rigidity to a simpler perspective on life and what it means. I know that is a simplistic description, but it is the only way to adjust to reality.

What has been your experience with the path you have chosen? and Why did you choose it?

The course of normality. I live a good life, look after my family, work hard and party hard when appropriate.

cantleave is a total party animal--trust me--ive got the scars to prove it.

I'm the "unbelieving mate" of a "submarine witness", so I continue to be involved whether I want to or not. The last few years have been a diet of steady and unrelenting observation, inquiry, challenging all that I believe to see if it stands up to scrutiny. I enjoy my church for the sense of community, and nature for it's lesson in balance and perseverance.

I have confounded all the rumour-mongers who made all sorts of pronouncements when I left the WT Scam.

The funniest was that I had left to start my own religion, what a good idea, that makes money !

My course since has been simply to live the life I already did, but without the JW/WT influence or connection.

I try to make the world a better place in any way I can, I try to make every person I come in contact with enjoy the experience, and hopefully have a laugh, and I try to do the least harm I possibly can to the environment.

The problem for the JW's is that, I am very happy with my life, evidently much more hapy than I was while I was "in", there is nothing they can fault, apart from my absence from the Kingdumb Hell, and also no terrible things have befallen me.

I don't judge or criticise any choice made by an XJW, they are free, free to live their life as they choose, but it has been my observation that very few fit the stereotype sad, failure XJW that the WT portrays as the inevitable result of leaving.

All the XJW's that I know personally, and have read about on here, say that life has got immeasureably better for them since they left, and it is the very best thing they ever did, such testimony speaks volumes, and speaks Truth.

I partied a bit, went to other churches, that sort of thing 30 years ago when I got out of the org. It didn't take long to settle down to the real me, a hard worker with an inappropriate sense of humor who enjoys every day minute by minute. Of course, I'm not a hard worker now. I'm retired!

We are living a good life and we are much happier. We have been celebrating some holidays, traveling more and trying to build new friendships. I have joined a bowling league and my husband has joined some meet-up groups for guitar playing and an open mic. Our business has become even more successful because our attitude is different. We are looking into charities we might want to support. Overall we are living a much more productive life. We are 57 & 59 and even though we lost so much of our life to this religion we are trying to make the best of it and enjoy the time we have left. Life is good and we are trying to live it to the fullest.

Left JWLand 30 years ago and have been living a healthy wholesome lifestyle while seeking knowledge and understanding.

Its a real lifestyle thats truly rewarding rather than the pretentious ignorance of being a devout encouragingly

    corrupt JWS.

YEEHAW! i've been fading into the distance for three or four years. I don't remember the first memorial i missed but it was in recent times. So far we've only celebrated birthdays, halloween, mothers/fathers days - this year we're jumping both feet into the vomit, we're going to buy a tree at Christmas and decorate it, if the elders come by they can lump it.

You know what - there's a REASON so many people have been doing the holidays and building traditions. I don't care what the reason is anymore. But I want to be among the regular people doing regular things. I'm tired of being so damned WEIRD and worrying about whether every little detail makes "Jehovah sad," for crap's sake, it's ridiculous!

I want to enjoy my family, my kids and grandkid and extended family, and my neighbors and acquaintences. I'm tired - EXHAUSTED! - of having to stop and wonder if every tom dick and harry is a good association or whether they eat peas with a spoon or a fork.

    I own my life.
