Who is saying slavery is good? We're talking about faith... the meaning of faith... and Abraham was commended for his FAITH. He heard, and believed, and obeyed. Noah heard, and believed, and obeyed. Peter heard, (who Christ was), and believed, and followed.

    mP:

So as long as you have faith you can be a terrible person. You can rape, enslave people, lie, beat and more, as long you have faith. Why couldnt you just admit that Abraham was an arsehole who lied that god spoke to him ? There ois no way a kind God would help or bless an evil criminal like Abraham. If A was your neighbour, im pretty sure you would call the police on him and hope he was locked up.

I agree about what Adamah is saying although I must say that even in modern times we as western people endorse slavery (actively or passively). If there weren't "modern" slaves then there were no iphones, no cheap clothing, no toys... nothing. If there were no "slaves" then there were no prostitutes... most of them do this "work" because they need money... not because they like this "work". We all endorse it because we buy it and/or use it: supply and demand so to speak. If the demand was not there we would not have to have these issues. Do we count it as normal that people in China and other countries are working their buts of and are not able to buy proper food with their wage, so that we can have our products? It is nothing more then modern slavery and still it is excepted worldwide. Most of us ARE slaves... we work and have taskmasters... if we do not do our work properly we get fired, loose our jobs etc etc. There is nothing new there. A lot of taskmasters ARE bullies... they do not use tools to hit people but use verbal violence or threats. We just give slavery a other name.

I dont want to sound nit picky but even though the workers in China or Vietnam and so on have it quite bad and i wouldnt want to be in their shoes, the ancient slaves had it much much worse. I just want to say that i am not trying to apologise the modern setup, but lets be fair and true to the meaning of the words. The poor workers in China have some very limited freedom. I m not going to claim its great or that they live well, but the anceint slaves had it much much worse. They were beaten, raped and killed on a scale that we cannot compare today.

Your second point about your job is completely unfair. You and me have it easy compared to the workers making the stuf fyou mention. We only work at most on average 1/3 a week. Thats 2/3 of a week of freedom or at the least peace. Im pretty sure you have never been beaten at your workplace. Start to compile the violence and so on, and you will see you are not a slave, not even close to one.

So some bosses are bullies, thats a big difference from a task master who actually beat you half too death. Im also pretty sure if you lost a job today you would have one soon enuff. Perhaps its not nice but its not a life and death matter. Slaves back then didnt have a chance.

Of course not... and no one has said that you can.

Why couldnt you just admit that Abraham was an arsehole who lied that god spoke to him ?

Because what you have said here is a lie.

    Peace,

Yes. I just watched the beginning of a monty python skit... i don't remember what it was called... that had a group of old men working as slaves, rowing a boat,... brought to modern day, working as accountants in rowed cubicles, with men walking around with clipboards instead of whips. An exaggeration, of course, but to make a point. We are slaves to whatever has mastered us. Some of it is forced upon us (have to keep that job that beats you down by the boss and also customers/clients... just to pay the rent, bills, food, support families, etc... working JUST to make ends meet, and never mind anything else). Some of it, we choose for ourselves. Mental abuse is just as damaging as physical abuse. So it follows that a person who feels enslaved, psychologically, is still enslaved. Mental chains, over physical ones. Just have to think about wts' hold on people, even those who KNOW the truth about her. Peace, tammy

"God speaks to all of us all the time.

Directly and not through human intermediaries, hierarchies, groups or organisations.

His messages via our 5 senses are amazing. Those via our 6th and higher senses - simply profound, sometimes beyond words.

The higher our Transpersonal Intelligence the better we are tuned in.

First we simply KNOW, then we UNDERSTAND, and later we are able to EXPLAIN."

THANK F*CK FOR SCIENCE AND EVIDENCE IN THE TIME I LIVE..............

    Dewandelaar and TEC,

What does the term "inalienable human rights" mean to both of you? If you know what it MEANS, is it a worthy GOAL to see that every human is NOT denied them (i.e. alienated from their fundamental human rights)?

Both of your examples indicate you REALLY DON'T QUITE UNDERSTAND what that phrase actually means, since conflating the experience of a slave 2,500 yrs ago with that of a modern-day person holding a job and calling themselves wage-slaves is just outrageous, a TEXTBOOK example of creating a false equivalency based on using the same word "slave" as if it carries the same meaning then as it does now.

Tammy, I need to assemble a response to the points you raised/questions you asked earlier; I didn't forget, and am not ignoring them.

I am convinced that God has been speaking to us all along.

The better question to ask is; "anybody listening".

    1 Corinthians 12:4-11

Now there are varieties of gifts, but there is the same spirit; 5 and there are varieties of ministries, and yet there is the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of operations, and yet it is the same God who performs all the operations in all persons. 7 But the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for a beneficial purpose. 8 For example, to one there is given through the spirit speech of wisdom, to another speech of knowledge according to the same spirit, 9 to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healings by that one spirit, 10 to yet another operations of powerful works, to another prophesying, to another discernment of inspired utterances, to another different tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. 11 But all these operations the one and the same spirit performs, making a distribution to each one respectively just as it wills.
