I have never heard of such a case. Perhaps it was just after the reinstatement was announced and before it had been posted to the Society. That might be a reason if they discovererd they had been fooled.

Another elder told me of a case where a sister's diary was found in the K H toilet just after she was reinstated . Looking inside ( only to indentify whose it was ) they saw things that would have altered their decision. The reinstatement stood, though.

How could that be? Was Holy Spirit on a coffee break?

Perhaps after prayerful consideration, one member of the judicial committee decided that the result was wrong and Holy Spirit moved them to rescind the reinstatement...or what the people who wrote just above me said.

All I know is that it was one of the wackiest announcements I have ever heard. The Eldumb who gave it was all lovey-dovey, gave the heartless announcement and sat down. They are so wee-todd-it.

I have know of the WTS declining a reinstatement because the elders were to fast to reinstate a person. Lets say this is the 2nd disfellowshipping for the same offense and now the elders are going to reinstate the person after 3 months of being disfellowshipped.

The circumstances on the guy that got DFed after he died was this:

He fooled around with a 15 yr old boy in the KH, who apparently cooperated, but it was still statutory rape of course. When the teen spoke to his parents about what happened they called the police and the JW pedophile guy took off in his vehicle, fled the state, and then found an appropriate place to kill himself.

The elders decided that since he was a repeat offender (Which I never knew at the time) he would have been DFed anyway and they did not want him to have a "JW funeral". So at the next mid-week meeting they announced he was DFed, AFTER he had died. This was in 1990 or 1991, and before they changed these announcements to "[Name] is no longer one of JWs"

Later my a-hole FIL bragged to me that he knew of another circumstance in another area where a young brother drove recklessly and killed the young JW friends that were with him in the car. According to him they also DFed this fellow in abstentia and "ex-post-muerto" as well. He got off on the whole thing and I could tell that he found it fun and fascinating to recount, that much was obvious.
