The bit about the Obituary reminded me of an old joke.

A well known member of the jewish community passes away, so his widow wishes it to be announced in the local newspaper.

When asked about the wording she says "Why waste money ? simply say "Hymie died", everybody will know it was him", she is told though that she can have five words for the same price as two, "O.K" she says, "Put , Hymie died, Volvo for sale"

The speaker basically said that if they wanted to see the deceased in the resurection any who were qualified couldnt be inactive in the ministry. Something like that. Basically a threat

Yes Hoser the same thing was said to me in a letter a few months ago from a 'friend' of my husband. She encouraged me to return saying the new system is very close and then she said you do want to see (my deceased husband) again don't you? I told her it was emotional blackmail.

    Phizzy LOL.

When I was still serving as an elder, about 4 years ago, I gave a funeral talk for a dear old sister who passed at 98yo. Much of her remaining family were 'worldly' and/or inactive. Some were still active. I talked about 15 minutes of her life from personal and family experiences and memories. An eulogy so to speak. I only loosely followed the wt's 'infomercial' outline. After the memorial and during the family reception, I was approached by several, including a newer elder, to let me know that that was the best funeral talk they ever heard at a KH. It was 'her' time to be remembered by all not a time to put in a plug for the wtbts.
