Why dont you look up on the internet crimes comitted by jehovah`s Witnesses , I think you will be very surprised. The majority of cases are comitted by dedicated baptised witnesses , not newly interested ones that you can excuse away. And the crimes range from anything minor to outright murder .

And remember ,Jehovahs Witnesses are only a minority religion and yet crimes comitted by them far outstrip the national average.

I`m sorry I cant put up the links .I`d appreciate it if someone can .Thanks heaps.

I had to point this out to a real Uber JW some time ago, she and her husband had to concede the truth of what I said, that as a group, JW's are no better than other religions, and on the Paedophile scandal, they are worse than many.

I did concede that many individual JW's are fine, upstanding and very loving people, I know many that I can say are thus. My experience with other religions leads me to believe that such good people are in a greater majority within those other religions, compared with the JW's, just my opinion.

But, as a whole, JW's have nothing to be proud of, or that marks them out as different.

And when you reveal these things to them, they'll trot out the old, "But who else preaches worldwide, uses Jehovah's name and doesn't go to war?" They're prepared for that one, as an email from a friend that went on and on about it showed when I mentioned some ways in which JWs were really quite vile.

I used to have the view as many did/do that at heart most JW's are very good people - just delusional.

But the thing is, compare an average JW with an average person off the street - the person from the street may drink a little too much, maybe swear a bit, maybe steal office supplies from work on occasion, maybe not declare all of their income at tax time.

The average JW won't do any of those things - but they will refuse their children a lifesaving operation if in that posiiton. I'm so thankful I was never in that position as a child - if I was I wouldn't be here to talk about it.

Delusional or not, compare a JW and you'll see how dangerous and destructive they are.

When I remember my time from before the Watchtower madness took hold, I actually knew a lot of better people who were not JWs. There are, of course, some very good people amongst the witnesses, but no more so than amongst the population in general. They certainly don't have the monopoly on this, like they seem to think they do!

This subject touches on something i have asked before. I would like to see the stats on the % of paedophiles coming out of the wts compared to other religions.

Dear Julia, I am sure you know the answers to the points you had mentioned to you.

    (1) JW's do not preach the Good News, so their preaching, which is far from world-wide anyway, has no significance, (2) plenty of churches use, and a good number actually have as part of their name, the Divine Name, (3) a number of churches are paciifst to some degree.

Now, what have JW's got left to show that they are God's Chosen People ? the claim to be such is as hollow as that of the Jews and any other religion.

I'm not so sure that the crime rate among JWs 'far outstrips the national average'. Many crimes don't get reported in the media at all. Of those that are, the religious affiliation of the criminal is generally not reported. But when a crime is committed by a person who is a member of a novel or conspicuous group, both the crime and the religious affiliation are more likely to be reported.

That said, there may be a tendency for certain types of crimes to be committed more often among JWs compared to the rest of society. Problems such as domestic violence and sexual assault are less likely to be reported to secular authorities by JWs because of the negative repute such reports might bring on the 'organisation'. When these are left unreported, they may escalate to even more serious violent crimes, either by the abuser, or in retaliation by the victim (I'm not talking about self-defence).

Because of the repressive nature of the religion, there may also be a greater than average tendency for those who feel pressured to conform to eventually 'snap'. There may also be some correlation among some new recruits to commit crimes due to the fact that people are more likely to join a high-control group when they are facing difficulties in their life such as substance abuse or emotional trauma.

(If it were up to me, I would also include withholding medical care on religious grounds as a crime. Unfortunately, it's not up to me.)

There are far more divorces and bad marriages among jw's than they will admit to

I agree with your post. Not having been raised a JW (thankfully), I can say that I saw non-JWs who would put Witnesses to shame.

My time in the JW religion told me that JWs are in many instances, less loving and less neighborly than the general population. They are more rule-oriented. They imagine this makes them more righteous or desirable, but it does not.

They may just have a more "clean-cut" image, that is all. Sadly, it is a deception.
