Thanks for your comments guys - I get the cognitive dissonance thing as I regularly throw her into a cognitive dissonance headspin when I point out all the very obvious problems with the WBTS claim to be Jehovah's organization and I understand the BS put out by that organization about being the sole source of truth and JWs being the most honest (one of the issues I have with my wife is her dishonesty by ommission) and happiest people on the planet (I can see my wife is far from happy) as opposed to all us evil wordly people. Being a very logical, rational critical thinkng sort of person, trying to reason with my wife about thsi stuff does my head in. But I know she is not a bad person just a victim.

Most jws I know I sweet little old ladies and nice families who r just like everyone else only they go to meetings, go witnessing and unfriend apostates. I do know of some who have committed crimes, but not so much here. One Jw made the front page of a local paper about a decade ago for bashing up his trainer, but he's out now and was a jerk. Another one, an elder, stole $20k but the victim never reported it to police. Another sis got dfd for attempted murder after it went to court. Oh and don't forget domestic violence is a crime too! How many cases of that do we know!

That is one of the thing I have to keep reminding myself both ways they are no better and no worse than anyone else. Still doesn't change my mind about wanting nothing to do with them anymore.

Having been born and raised as a JW from birth until age 44 when I exited 10 years ago - I can speak for a certainty that Jehovah's Witnesses are missing authentic, born in empathy because it's been replaced by a misdirected, thought controlled devotion to WT Society interests. How else can we explain JW family members shunning DFed, or inactive family members and not blink an eye at how wrong and destructive that shunning is ? It's because they've lost all normal humane empathy or decency through mind control and WT brainwashing.
It's my opinion that it's that exact thing - the mind control- that can lead JW's to committ crimes they otherwise may not commit if they weren't under WT control. If they had their normal, human born-in personalities they wouldn't do the crimes. It's the same mentality that made Muslims crash into New York's twin towers to cause 3,000 people to die. Only in Jehovah's Witnesses case- minds are being destroyed psychologically, emotionally, and yes- also people being killed physically through suicides, child abuse, no blood transfusions, JW's dying in Malawi for WT Society interests ? It's ridiculous. WT Society is HIGHLY bloodguilty. Since being out of the JW organization I have found many more decent, kind, authentic friends

Yeah, I was deeply offended. I cried for hours.
My forum avatar has the same 'hair' and 'arms' as Phizzy's, and the background colour is similar (mine is brighter). Maybe that's it. (My avatar is much more dashing though.)

You are right that they are certainly missing empathy. It has certainly been replaced by loyalty to an organization. To me, they seem like unfeeling android robots. But, yet they go about shamelessly promoting themselves as having "love".
I hate to say it, but, some JWs appear like pod people out of a science fiction movie. They do not inspire warm and fuzzy feelings!

I know for a fact all they have no more success in marriage than the general population. That's why the WTS has never released any statistics to back up their claim about the husband loving his wife and the wife showing respect for her husband. I think they know it to.
