JW.org FAQ trickery #1 - Are Only Jehovah's Witnesses going to be saved?

    From the description:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have been associated for any length of time with the Jehovah's Witnesses you know that they believe they are the only true religion and the only ones that will be saved before the war of Armageddon. This war is "coming soon" according to the Watchtower magazine. Their literature is filled with many pictures showing everyone but them dying a grisly death.

Yet if you go to their frequently asked questions page on JW.org, a very different picture is painted. They do not tell the truth to the public in any way shape or form, as it would be quite politically incorrect to say, "Every man woman and child except active JWs will die and their flesh will be eaten by the birds." even though that IS PRECISELY what the Watchtower magazine teaches.

This video will clearly show this prevarication on their part. Why does the governing body allow this kind of thing to get published? Is it part of theocratic war strategy? Or are they simply like Exxon, Shell oil, and other huge global corporations that desperately try to conceal from the general public who they really are and what they do?

I should add as a JW that THIS teaching weighed on me the most, caused me the most consternation, sleeplessness over reconcilling "God is Love" with "God is going to eternally kill seven billion people."

The question should be: "Do you feel that you are the only people that will survive Armageddon?"

JW's believe many non JW's, e.g. the evildoer next to Jesus, will be resurrected and that is the question they have answered.

They also infer that people may yet become JW's and thus be saved.

    They make politicians look trustworthy.

This is the worst jw.org faq answer.

'No, we don't think we're the only ones who will be saved, as some nonJWs may still become JWs, and then they will be saved!'

As if anyone asking the question only means current JWs.

When the above question is asked it really means will JWs be the only ones saved at Armageddon...but they avoid answering this question. Instead they divert attention to the salvation through resurrection of "unrightous" ones who obviously aren't JW...all good lawyers use this method to avoid answering embarrassing questions.

Edit: I hadn't read St George's comment...glad to see we're on the same page!

Saying that only JWs would be saved wouldn't go over too well on their public website; it's just too politically incorrect, these days.

On the other hand, I've literally lost count of how many times I've heard Witnesses (Elders, publications, R&F) explicity state (from the platform, in comments, in casual situations) that non-JWS are - for all intents and purposes - thoroughly and completely buggered (something that I was able to successfully refute using the Bible, I might add, and not once got in trouble for it).

Ugh. The double talk in the FAQ section is just crazy. I will say, this is the doctrine that I believe most JW's don't really believe.

I don't think the VAST majority of JW;s believe that JW's are going to be the only ones that survive the big A, even though that is what is explicitly taught.

I've used this to my advantage many times with my JW hubby. There's no way he can KNOW that I'm not going to make it. I then blissfully tralalala through the tulips, confident in my own status in Jehovah's hands. It drives him nuts. He's not nearly so certain.
