The below is the title and theme scripture of the lead article in the latest Watchtower about Apostates. Notice that the Watchtower is unknowingly labeling themselves as “an apostate”, as “the man of lawlessness”, as we briefly review the context of its own theme scripture.
“
Avoid Being “Quickly Shaken From Your Reason”!
“Brothers, . . . we request of you not to be quickly shaken from your reason.”—2 THESS. 2:1, 2.
Full verse content 2 Thess 2:1-4:
“2 However, brothers, respecting the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we request of YOU 2 not to be quickly shaken from YOUR reason nor to be excited either through an inspired expression or through a verbal message or through a letter as though from us, to the effect that the day of Jehovah is here. 3 Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. 4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god."
Interestingly, although in the latter part of chapter 2 verse 2, the NWT (New World Translation) expresses "the day of Jehovah is here", other translations translate it to be the day of the "Christ" or the day of "Lord" is here. In fact, the subject in this verse is actually Jesus according to the subject expressed in Ancient Greek: XPICTOC (pronounced "Christos").
Based on the fact that the Watchtower is provocatively declaring Christ's presence (and the time of the end) is here, it is essentially deeming that the "day of Christ is here." Therefore, as a result of the organization’s own actions, the language of these 4 verses appear to describe it as an "apostate," "a man of lawlessness," "publicly showing himself to be a god" as evidenced by not only its over-confidently announcing the presence and “day of the Christ,” but also its self-appointed position as God's sole representation and communication channel and judge of mankind.
Based on the above very brief contextual analysis, it looks like the Watchtower is the real “apostate,” “man of lawlessness!”
