No matter how many times I've tried, I just couldn't get through the whole thing. You know, there were always those reminders to read the bible, have a personal study, go out in service, and.... the other two of the five things we were supposed to do I already forgot. So, I constantly felt guilty that I just had no interest. Sure, I studied my WT articles diligently. But, the Bible? Ugh, the meetings were a bore, so the Bible was too.

Anyways, I've read entire books in the Bible, but not the book itself. I read-- Genesis, Acts, Matthew, Jonah, Ecclesiastes, and that's it.

What about you? Have you read the entire Bible? If not, what books did you read in the Bible?

    Yep. Loads of times.

It's mostly rubbish with a few gems.

Job and Ecclesiates are worth a read but ignore the silly intro and conclusion to Job.

I read the entire Bible a couple of times. The only way I was able to do it was to have the Bible on my computer and bookmark it where I last read and to make a point to read a chapter almost every morning.

I have read it cover to cover a couple of times years ago. Started it before I studied with the witnesses, then again after I stopped studying with them, so I could do a personal study without their influence.

I have read certain books within it many times.

I wanted to know what was written in it, so that men and religion could not fool me about what WAS written in it. So I could at least spot a lie or some baseless doctrine/dogma from them or religion.

    Peace,

I read it several times as a JW...but, of course, had blinders on.

I just finished reading again it a few weeks ago. It took me about a year and a half.

    losingit,

Have you ever tried to read a non NWT bible? The NWT is a poor translation and really difficult to read, if you want to read the whole bible, maybe try some different translations and find one you can follow. I only managed to get through the whole thing when I gave up trying to read it with the NWT.

several times. I couldn't while I was a JW because they teach all is already known and nobody except the GB can understand it. Then one day I was doing research in the bible and saw interesting things, red flags, and started to really read it. Then I learned there is a lot that is to be found and discovered and it suddenly became easy to read it.

After I read it in the JW version, then I learned about bad translations and such so then I read it with online hebrew interlinear. I also learned that all the names in the bible, especially in the OT have a meaning and I was suspect that there is more to know if you know what those names mean, so I started reading and translating many of the names when I noticed deeper messages being revealed in them.

Yes plenty of times, and guess what, the more you read it the more you see what a crock it is...
